"Great tasting food in an interesting contemporary setting. Service. I visited this restaurant on a Friday evening and it was surprisingly quiet. Nonetheless the service was excellent, with our order taken promptly and food served in good time. Location. There is plenty of parking available, but also within walking distance of the Ramada hotel where I was staying. Food. The food was very tasty, especially our main course curries. I can recommend the Chicken Jalfrezi. Portion sizes were generous in all cases. Price. In my opinion the prices were reasonable, although I note that other reviewers have described prices as high. Starter and mains plus drinks for two people came to £57. Decor. The decor in this restaurant is definitely what makes it stands out. I love the murals on the walls of Indian trains and shop fronts."

We are so lucky as this is our local Indian restaurant. The food is always excellent and it's just a little bit different to your normal Indian restaurant. It is licenced so this can make the bill a little more expensive however it is well worth a visit.

This restaurant was the Express and Star Indian Restaurant of the year 2017 and I can understand why. On a Sunday evening it was not busy. The food was excellent, best Indian food I have had in a long time and very good value for money. The staff were very friendly. It was a pleasure to eat there. Definitely, be going back next time we are in the area. The bonus was a free lift back to our hotel not far but much appreciated.

We as a family really enjoyed the ambience, great service and the excellent food at Journeys restaurant, oldbury today. Every item we ordered from the starters to main course to puddings were delicious. After a long time, we felt like we ate the perfect vegetarian dhum biryani along with the non vegetarian food items. Hope the excellent quality of the food continues like this even when the restaurant gets its good name and becomes busy.

finally on the road from old saffron restaurant, journeys has opened. some well-known faces in front of the house. menu is simple but excellent. the decor is like sitting in an Indian railway station (I think so anyway, I've never been in India). poppadome are light and crispy and dry, 4 chutneys all very good. dosa to start, crispy light and fluffy on the inside with large side, then the garlic methi chicken (med-hot) boiled rice and peshwari naan. highly recommended. if you like saffron, you will love it here!

"The food is really enjoyable. Some of the meat can be a bit dry in parts but generally speaking it's quite good. Is it better than what you'd get at the average chippy? Not for what it costs. Ordering two box meals and a couple of sides got the cost up to £50 with charges. Considering a large mixed meat in naan at my local chip shop is £7, it's incredibly expensive. There's far too much waste which really needs to be addressed. Every food item is at least two layers of packaging deep. With a box meal you have the outer corrugated cardboard box, then all dividers inside, then the kebab sandwich is in a box of its own, then it's in a foil wrapper, then it's in a paper wrapper. It's all needless waste and when we're all trying to be more conscious of our carbon footprint this just isn't required. There are some nice things that just aren't replicated elsewhere, their kebab bread is fantastic and very similar to a traditional Turkish pide. Their sauces are really good too. Full of flavour and balanced well with the meat but I will say there's never enough of it. Three little poxy pots is all you get.The fries are average. Nothing remarkable about them. The spicy fries are a tasty addition but this option does bump up the price but again, perfectly average.Overall I'd recommend that it's worth trying at least once but the prices are way over valued and quantity in some areas lack. If they cut down on all the needless packaging they could even bring the prices down but £15-20 for a box meal (one can of pop, one kebab sandwich, one fries and two spring rolls) it's a bit of a joke."
