"What a corker of a café this little beauty is. Popped in on a very wet and windy Sunday in Clitheroe for something wet and warm. Ended up having a bite to eat while we're there so glad we did. I had the home made beans with egg on sourdough toast, I was cheeky and added a sausage, so glad I did it was lovely and one of the nicest sausage I've had in a while very tasty. Hubby to be had full English he loved it and couldn't stop talking about how impressed he was that the tomato was actually soft and cooked, not just slightly warmed up like you get in most place. I think he told everyone we saw that day, and the poached egg is the best he's had too. Quality of the food here is outstanding Staff were friendly and happy to tell you about the produce that they use from coffee beans to eggs. And the brownies are the best all cakes are homemade. Highly recommend this place whether you're a local or like us visitors for the day it's the place to go for a good coffee and excellent food"

After visiting the castle I popped in for coffee and a slice of carrot cake. Which was divine. Atmosphere was friendly and relaxed and coffee was excellent. I returned the next morning for breakfast another dish I'd recommend

My daughter and her friend ate here. Turkey bap was cold, tiny with no side salad or garnish, no marshmallows no cream or sprinkles on the hot choc . Sausage bagel had 1 sausage on it sliced up. Expensive don’t bother going. My daughter...was too shy to complain . Ver carta

Jungle is a fantastic little cafe and bar in the centre of Clitheroe and my favourite place to go when I am there. The food is of a very high standard and the service excellent. Cocktails in the evening are fabulous and Ramzan and all...the staff make everyone feel so welcome. I look forward to my next trip to Clitheroe so we can go again.

This place is a little jewel. The staff are lovely and the food wonderful. The all day breakfast is amazing. They will add or adapt to your order as you wish. Two hour street parking outside and just down from the castle. If you want...to visit a cafe that is not a usual “run of the mill” then the jungle is for you. Can’t wait to visit again.

I went with my son for a delicious Sunday cooked breakfast and we were not disappointed. The portions were generous with bacon, eggs, beans, toast, sausage, and more. They also had a great selection of teas. The restaurant is conveniently located across from the fire station. The service was attentive and overall it was a great British cafe that should not be missed. Ver carta

My favourite cafe EVER and certainly in the Ribble Valley. I had a group of friends up from London over Xmas and we came here for NYE …we had the best time ever ! Great cocktails, great service just a brilliant night. We went for...breakfast in the morning and nice bracing walk round the castle after. Ramzan and Adam, the owners work really hard to make sure the food and the ambiance are spot on. I wish them every continued success in 2022

I started going to Jungle when they first opened 3 years ago. The quality of food is first class, as is the service and atmosphere and the coffee is the best I’ve tasted outside Italy and Cuba. I’m in so often now (it’s close to...home) it’s like my second dining room. Adam and Ramzan are the owners and they are lovely, friendly and hard working lads who always go the extra mile for everyone. Ramzan even popped food down to my mum when she was waiting for a hip operation and couldn’t get out. Jungle is a real asset to Clitheroe a town which has more than its fair share of great cafes and restaurants. Visit if you get chance

"The Stag Inn is a delightful looking pub overlooking the small green in the village of Barkston near Grantham. Internally the pub is clean and tidy with a range of two and four seater tables with New England shades of light blue on the painted table legs in the restaurant area. We didn’t venture into the pub side so can’t vouch for the decor in there. We arrived unannounced just after opening time of 12 and were offered a table with no difficulty. There was a menu of the usual offerings of fish and chips and a range of burgers together with roast salmon, chargrilled pork chop, a leek and cauliflower cheese pot pie, ham egg and chips and a vegetable lasagne amongst others. A specials chalkboard hung on the far wall and the crab and prawn salad with Mediterranean bread sounded so good we both opted for it. That was a mistake as we were to find out. The meals were reasonably quick to arrive and were served up in two large bowls with a dusting of paprika round the edges. What hit me immediately was the large flaccid green lettuce leaf draped over the edge of the bowl, together with a whole half-a-lemon that we each had. A small wedge would be perfect. The bread tasted sweet and was as far from the Mediterranean as it could possibly be apart from the occasional input of sundried tomato. What irked me most though was that the bread was delivered up pre-buttered with what looked like some bright yellow catering spread. A small ramakin of real butter between the two of us would work so much better. When asked if everything was okay I mentioned this and was told that chef would be informed. Having said all that the crab and prawn salad was full of flavour and sat on a nice mixed salad of red peppers, lettuce, red onion and cornichons. A word of advice to the wise….. don’t sit at the table near the restaurant counter as this is where the pub’s phone is located. On at least two occasions the phone was left to ring unanswered by the staff, presumably as they were busy elsewhere (the pub was by no means full) and was right behind my head! The volume of the ringer was high and it would have been a more pleasant experience for us if, firstly, it was answered and, secondly, the volume was turned down. On the plus side the staff were polite and helpful but the food not so great."
