"When in Rome, do like the Romans goes the saying. When in Chinatown, do like Chinese , I say. If that means summoning the waiter by simply waiving your hand, or even snapping fingers, so be it. If that means ignoring chintzy decor and dirty looks (there goes another Gaijin , so be it. If that means ordering 57 dishes of the most amazing tantalizing delicious food, whereas you can only eat no more than 7 dishes, so be it. True happiness comes from within, and that 's why my dear aunt used to say When you 've eaten, your soul becomes kinder . Mind you, good food isn 't easy to find. Good CHINESE food? Oh, mate, you 're asking for the moon! But, here, at Kam Tong, good food is simply an understatement. Food here is beyond that. Of course, you must be willing to look past the garden variety of moo-shoo pork and sweet and sour chicken and order the REAL Chinese food. And that, my friends, is where the true pleasure lies. Go on, order. I 'll wait. What, you want EVERYTHING on the menu? Well, yeah. Me too! The quality of the food here is in smells, flavor, taste and sight. If you go for one place in Bayswater, make this your one stop. Cheers (we 're in London, after all! Addendum. As we were sitting down for our second meal in as many days at Kam Tang, somebody at a table next to ours asked for Pad Thai. PEOPLE!!! Dafuq is wrong with you!!! You wouldn 't ask for fish and chips at a French restaurant, or sushi at curry joint. Then why the **** not learn what the amazing Chinese cuisine is all about!!! Argh!"

We recently visited Kam Tong for the second time during our vacation from the US. The food was delicious, the staff was friendly, and the service was quick. We especially enjoyed the tasty fried duck dish.

I had dinner here twice. The roast meats are excellent, especially the roast pig and duck. The soups are also delicious. It's a bit expensive compared to what we would pay in Brooklyn, but the service was friendly and nice.

Satisfied. Once again, my friends were craving for Chinese food during our visit in London. We got into Kam Tong a minute before they closed at All dishes were tasty and flavorful but they were all a bit too oily. I just did not agree with their GBP for a small bowl of rice. Servers were nice.

we found the restaurant a frightening place, with a violent manager who wanted to beat us before we kicked out of the restaurant. it was all because they were very unhappy when we waited to be sitting, and I said to the manager who brought us to our table that I hoped that the service would be more friendly. I and my man who were really shaken up when I left the place. I've never seen anything like this before and I'll never go back.

After a bad experience down the street where we couldn't even get seated, we came upon this place and WOW! Superb food! The duck was amazing! They did a special fried rice for me as I have some dietary restrictions. The service was the utmost professional, friendly and prompt. Everyone was happy to discuss the restaurant and food. We will be back this week for dim sum! Thank you Kim Tong for turning our first night dinner from a bad experience to a truly delicious one! See you in a few days!!

Far away from the overwhelmingly busy and touristy Chinatown in Leicester Square lies London's second Chinatown in Bayswater where to food is just as good (if not better) and better value for money. If not for its location, this would be my London haunt for Chinese given that quality of food in the area but alas, life is not always fair. On the odd days though when I do find myself in the area, there is one place above all which I can't seem to pass up and that place is Kam Tong Located less than mins walk from the tube on Queensway, Kam Tong is headed by Head Chef Chris Kwan, a veteran of the restaurant game with over years experience , most notably Zen Mayfair and...read more

Top Marks!. Kam Tong has been here forever but I heard it had recently been taken over by new management this year so was curious to see how it fared in comparison to its previous incarnation and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. We arrived early on a Saturday and there was already a small queue waiting for the doors to open. Once inside, the place is much brighter and although plainer, had some nice details. We were quickly seated and given menus. We ordered a selection of dim sum and a couple of other dishes. I would highly recommend the dim sum which all turned up hot and tasty. The prawn dumplings were succulent and the pastry skins nice and thin. The pork puffs were flaky...read...

I absolutely love Kam Tong. It is one of my 2 favourites on this street crowded with a surfeit of Asian restaurants. Their dim sum menu in the afternoon is large, comprehensive and very tasty. They even offer part of their dim sum menu later in the evening for dinner. I heavily recommend the pumpkin shaped fried dumplings and the pork ribs with fermented black beans is outstanding. They have sweet dim sum too which are a lovely way to end your meal. From their main menu, I am most excited about their chicken tom yum soup. Most tom yum soup have shrimp/prawns in their stock. Since I'm allergic to that, I've had to content myself with poor attempts of this superbly flavoursome soup at home. So...
