"Despite friends who live locally warning us of a drop in standards we thought we’d give it a chance. Initially things went well, a very good waitress who was attentive. Drinks and starters arrived quickly. The mains however were a different story Sunday roast beef. Everything on the plate was lukewarm. My wife had 5 slices of beef however, having removed the top two, the remaining 3 were just slices of pure beef fat. The waitress did ask us if everything was ok as we started the meal to which we answered “yes, so far” but perhaps give us a chance to eat some of it before posing that question. I asked for the meal to be removed from our bill and a young manager/supervisor did offer to bring out more actual beef slices but the moment of enjoyment for my wife was gone. I was happy to pay for everything else but my wife’s meal, when the bill arrived it was still included. I asked for it to be removed along with the non voluntary gratuity which I felt the kitchen staff did not deserve. The young manager or petulant child clearly has not had training to deal with negative feedback, it was like dealing with a teenage son who has never been told ‘no’. And never throw a bill at a customer again, you can’t get the food right all the time. More training required Monsieur Blanc. We have been many times in the past but I would advise avoiding this place until high standards return."

Had a great evening meal here the other week. The staff were lovely and had great recommendations on what to pick from the menu. The food can be quite expensive but for what you get it ends up being worth it.

Popped in for a drink and was cosy. Could do with more lounge style seating in the bar. The fireplace by the door is deceiving... you can't actually sit in front of it or you will the entrance! Would nip back in for another swift half!

Best Beef Bourginon and Lamb Roulettes I have had in years! Top service by Jonno, George and the girls. Lovely wine too (French Malbec Le Coq Perdu). Personally, I have liked more vegetarian options, but understand that is a challenge with French cuisine. We had a lovely Valentines’s dinner here. Will definitely come back

A group booking has never been so easy deposits were collected individually by the pub we selected our food before we arrived. Place cards were printed with our names selected dishes. We were given a separate space away from the main restaurant had a lovely evening. The food was also delicious I had roast turkey with all the trimmings it was all perfectly cooked.

Excellent food, service and ambience. Waiting staff are prompt and attentive, without bring suffocating. Always with a smile. Attractive, well kept restaurant, bar and garden settings. Menu carries a wide range of tempting dishes, without being a catalogue, good wine list. Recommend the sticky beef with coconut rice lovely piece of braising steak in a wonderfully glazed sauce of ginger, lime and soy sauce. Ver carta

Yet another excellent meal at the Kings Head Teddington. Spur of the moment decision after a game of tennis. We sat outside in their courtyard, and enjoyed excellent real ale with our mains of perfectly cooked Sea Bream, seared skin and still juicy inside and a fine steak and ale pie with mash. Simple food done well with great favours and textures. The menu is always interesting with some unusual dishes , the staff were as always friendly and efficient. They’ve kept their prices keen too. Congratulations and thanks.

Extremely limited for vegans. Only one vegan main option and really only one starter as the other is just a smaller version of the main. If I were veggie and the only options I had were salads, I wouldn’t be happy either. I understand you can choose where to eat, but it’s 2022 and large groups often have a range of dietary requirements. Having two options (one of which wasn’t a salad) surely wouldn’t be too much to ask. Apparently they change their menus quite often, so perhaps they will have more options at some point. Having said that, the one main option available was very tasty and service was very good.

"Obon: a petit Japanese udon restaurant that supplies a sense of Japan that cannot be found anywhere else in the whole of the Uk. (5 stars) Location: Obon is located close to the heart of Kingston but the road it’s on is considerably quieter. You must make sure to have a basic knowledge of Kingston in order to find an area to park and to also make sure you leave yourself enough time, taking the unpredictability of the traffic into acount. Even on a week day there can be traffic jams which can put a halt to your plans and due to the small amount of customers Obon can take its important that you not only book but make sure that you arrive at the agreed booking time. With this being said the staff are all lovely so if you are running late, a quick call is all that is required to just give Obon a chance to understand your position. The food: The array of exquisitely prepared sashimi will be sure to create the sensation that you are in a top Japanese restaurant in japan and the flavour of the fish does not fail to match expectations, which will be very high after just one glance at your meal. The fish is delicately seasoned and practically melts on your tongue, this causes a lovely sensation and is genuinely the finest sushi I have tasted in the uk and even matches a lot of the top restaurants in japan. On top of just the traditional types of sushi, which to many is maki rolls Obon also offers many other delicious options such as soft shell crab and even Unagi don, which I must highly recommend due to it consistently being the highlight of my meal. For those of you that were interested in the quality of the basic Japanese dishes such as miso soup or edamame they do not fail to leave you in grand anticipation for what is to come for they are, simply speaking, incredibly good. The miso, in my opinion, is truly remarkable and creates a lasting feeling of warmth throughout your entire body, on top of that it is far superior to other miso’s that I have tasted in all other areas of the world. Overall the quality of the food is something you would expect from a world famous Michelin star restaurant and if you want Japanese food it’s the only place I can recommend. The Restaurant: The restaurant itself is small but authentic in nature and because it only has a enough tables to host around 20 people at the most, the service is exceptionally good and your food is always out quickly so you will not be left hungry for very long. The staff are kind and friendly. And it’s always an enjoyable experience being waves goodbye as you leave the restaurant. You’re also able to watch as they prepare the food, which for some could be entertaining. There are Japanese photos scattered around the room and this further creates an authentic feel. The atmosphere is not lively but it is a restaurant and not a bar so is an ideal location if you are wanting high quality food. With this being said it is still a great place to go with friends and I consistently am able to have a great time no matter the occasion. Price: Obviously, the price of the food is always an important topic to come to and despite the cost of the sushi being slightly higher than you may expect from a small restaurant in Kingston, I would have to say that for the quality of the food it is ultimately a bargain. For three people, you would be spending around £100 so it isn’t cheap but you can go for cheaper types of food such as udon, which is still amazing quality and won’t set you back as much money. Overall: Obon is still my favourite restaurant in the whole of the Uk and is perfect for a special occasion but it isn’t the sort of place you’d go for a casual night out. The food is beyond incredible and thus they can cater for both children and adults by meeting every bodies needs. For anybody that enjoys sushi, I would urge you to give it a go, you won’t regret it"
