"Today, my two children, aged 8 and 12, my parents, and I went out for lunch to celebrate Mother’s Day, and I must say, I’m still full! The service was excellent, even though the restaurant was extremely busy. The staff were friendly and had beautiful, smiling faces. The food was amazing, especially the fish, which was massive! Everyone enjoyed their meals. Two of us couldn’t finish our cake, so we brought some home to enjoy later. We will definitely be back soon and highly recommend this place. A lovely touch was that each mom received a small cupcake and the opportunity to enter a free raffle."

"Oh my goodness, cannot recommend the Ship Inn enough. Due to the current COVID climate we couldn't do our usual staff dinner. So we decided to order from the Ship Inn takeaway menu. 32 orders made up of starters, mains and puddings. Delivered on time to us at work by lovely staff and every meal absolutely delicious with not a single error in the order. This was after we added very last minute to the order this morning and changed from 15 people to 32 throughout the course of the week! Will definitely be back. 32 very happy NHS workers. Thank you very much again.xxx"

"I ordered takeaway on Tuesday night; I had haddock and chips while my husband had steak and chips. Both were excellent, and the cheesecake was fantastic too. Well done!"

"The hotel itself was fine, but we were disappointed with the service provided by the two staff members working during our stay. We did not receive a friendly welcome at check-in, and when we indicated that we wanted to have dinner at the hotel, we were told to come back at 7:30pm without a reservation. When we returned at the specified time, we felt like we were bothering the staff by asking for our table, which was not reserved for us. The staff seemed irritated when we mentioned that we were instructed to come at that time. Despite the busy night with a large party in the dining room, the staff made negative comments about the hotel and their jobs in front of guests while clearing plates. Additionally, we were not asked if our meal was satisfactory or if we wanted dessert or more drinks. After waiting 20 minutes post-meal, we decided to settle the bill and return to our room. Other guests at breakfast the next morning also expressed dissatisfaction with the previous night's service. They were served their main course and one drink, then told to leave when the lights were turned off at the bar at 9pm. When they requested another drink, they were denied as the staff were about to finish for the night, and they were not even given the opportunity to pay for their food. Overall, the hotel is ok, but the service leaves much to be desired. Cannot recommend."

"Hotel is under new ownership. They are updating and it looks so much better than previous photos you may find on the internet. There’s still a ways to go. Beds are extremely “firm”. Individual rooms are decorated with lots of billowing dusty fabrics, and still need a lot of updating. You may be scalded while showering if another guest flushes the toilet or turns on the cold water anywhere in the building. The showers in general need to be addressed. Shower curtains were flimsy plastic that blow around while you shower and stick to you… which is not pleasant especially because they’re mildewed in places. The staff was extremely friendly. Sitting in the lounge and enjoying a drink from the bar was a highlight. The main area of the hotel is very nicely re-done, and staff treat you well. Would visit again as I met the owner and can tell he’s working to improve it."
