We stayed at the Altenbergerhof for two days and also had dinner in the Küchenhof for two days. The food was excellent and you could see the love for the product, for example in the great sauce for the suckling pig cheeks. All in all, highly recommended. Really cozy courtyard, the waffle was really tasty, but something needs to change in the service. Everyone was nice, but there seemed to be a lack of staff, we had to wait 40 minutes to pay and that was only because I ran after a waiter to draw his attention to it. The restaurant is beautifully located and has a modern, cozy atmosphere. We were there in the evening and the restaurant was full to capacity. Reservation is therefore highly recommended. Unfortunately, after half an hour we still hadn't been served; neither with drinks nor with a menu. Afterwards you were spoken to angrily about leaving the location. The poor service was apparently not noticed by the waitress. The restaurant, which is still full despite everything, owes its visitors to the fact that it has a monopoly position in the immediate vicinity of Altenberg Cathedral. This place used to be really good when they opened. Gradually we witnessed the quality drift off. Now it's completely drifted off the scale. We had such high hopes as there are so few decent restaurants in the neighborhood. We actually met the owner in the beginning days. She had such big plans as she gave us the grand tour. I don't remember her name but she was a very nice lady from Turkey who was married to a local royal man. I am so sad to say that the restaurant has become a big disappointment. In the entrance tunnel there are swallow nests on the ceiling which at dusk make for plenty of activity, pretty cool! The potential is there. But no spirit left.

Very tasty Bergisch waffles and the cheesecake is also recommended. During a visit in the spring we had veal schnitzel during a hiking break which was fantastic. Current map is very attractive. There have recently been changing Sunday roasts on Sundays. Quality, preparation and appearance at the highest level, as well as taste. It was rather by chance that we stopped by the Küchenhof after a visit to the Altenberg fairytale forest. The modern restaurant is in a picturesque location next to Altenberg Cathedral. Apart from a grumpy greeting from a member of staff at the counter, we were served in a friendly manner. However, we had to wait almost an hour for a Viennese schnitzel with fried potatoes €28), a Bergisch trout with parsley potatoes €28) and braised suckling pig cheeks with potato-mustard puree €24), which I found it unreasonably long given the half-empty courtyard.
