"Turned up around on a Saturday without a reservation and got a seat. Went as it was near our hotel and we’d walked a lot that day so wanted somewhere near, TA reviews were good. We were not disappointed, small place with friendly, helpful...staff. no wine list though they made recommendations with meals and they were excellent and not expensive. Food was fresh and flavoursome, maybe abit hotter than the UK equivalents, big portions but empty plates which says alot. starters, mains (rice comes with it though menu doesn’t imply that you get any), bottle of water and large wines"

We were looking for some genuine Thai food in the Stuttgart area. This is definitely the case here. Price is a bit high and location outside the city centre, so need to drive separately or walk a while.

Food was super tasty and quite authentic. The young coconut was a bit too old, but that was probably just unlucky. Service was very friendly and attentive. I can fully recommend this place, definitely one of the best Thai places in Stuttgart!

Seeing photos from other reviews which look really nice, so we decided to dine here. And IT’S SOOOO GOOD!! All the staff are Thai, super friendly and nice. Food are delicious and comes in big portions. Pad Thai is so good, even better than some...restaurant in Thailand

Kwan Kao is located a short distance from Stuttgart’s excellent museum district. The restaurant is small, reservations are a must! I was greeted in a cordial manner that carried forward throughout the evening. My massaman curry with pork was very good. I sopped up every...drop of the sauce with the accompanying rice! My dining companions enjoyed their choices also.

Checked this place out on a Thurs. night with a buddy. While we didn't have a reservation, we were able to sit at the bench at the end of the bar. Lesson learned is to make a reservation. Despite that setback, we really the food...here. The appetizers, pad thai and curry we ordered were all very good. Since the restaurant was busy, service was a little slow, but it did help to be by the bar. Cash or EC card only.

We tried based on a recommendation of one who knows the best restaurants. We were very impressed with the quality. One companion had the Massaman Curry and they were very impressed. I had a wonderful duck with mild curry. My other companion, a delightful Phad...Thai with shrimps. We were all very pleased with our choices. When the rice ran low, the staff was quick to ask if wanted more. We were there on a Thursday night and it was not full. I agree with others, best to reserve .

It is always a bit scary to dine alone, by my experience at Kwan Kao II was ok. I was given a nice place (I could in fact choose seat which is not always the case when dining alone). The food was very good and...tasty. My vegetarian curry dish was given two Chilies in the menu, and it was reasonably hot (could have been more spicy, but I think it is fine for most people). The service was fine and the wine was delishious. Nothing to complain about! The only minus was that they did not have the wonton soup as I wanted for a starter. Maybe next time?

"Wow. Simply Awesome! Best dining experience my wife and I have had in several years, probably top all time, and we are real foodie snobs. They squeezed us in with only a couple hours notice. We got the course menu paired with wine....Little did we know that six courses in metric means First came the amouse bouse, a frothy chicken soup plus a croquette topped with dried mushrooms. Paired with wine of course. Then came a home made freshly baked baguette that was crazy delicious served with a dish of sour cream and chives as well as butter with pumpkin seeds. The bread was so good it could have been its own course, and the sour cream was the first of many unusual com I nations, but it worked. Next was a salad a combination of beet root, cabbage, Thai coconut milk and lemon grass. I hate beets and I loved this dish. Next wa the first actual course, duck liver pate and brioche with figs and wine sauce. Amazing! Now how about some slow cooked trout (which strongly resembled salmon) with tangerines and celery root. Then some white cod with Jerusalem artichokes and hazel nuts. Then, to cleanse the palate a glass of deer broth served in a glass like a brandy snifter. We're only halfway through. Now it's a slab of deer meat cooked like a tender steak, served with a cannelloni stuffed with deer and all set over mashed parsley root that could have passed as mashed potatoes. All garnished with an amazing deer gravy/sauce. Next comes some mont d'or cheese served with house made fruit bread, oranges, and rutabaga. Crazy com o but it was delicious. Now for dessert courses. Red wine sorbet. Think you're done? Next comes white chocolate ice cream serve with quince (purée, cubes, and foam) served with a chestnut parfait. Now we're stuffed, but time for another dessert: creme brulee paired with a chocolate brownie and a serving of mango mousse. Crazy good."
