La Dolce Piazza - Carta

I came here last year was great. Today I have no words. Shocking service , terrible coffee asked to make it twice still bad. Staff not interested. What a shame we won’t be back .

It was a sunny day when I arrived at La Dulce Piazza I decided to sit on the terrace with the restaurant in the back, the waiters were more than friendly, attentive, friendly, hospitable... The food and wine were delightful. It was quite peaceful, as it was a Tuesday evening. Regarding wheelchair accessibility, it currently isn't available, but the new owner has plans to address this. I dined in for dinner, and the cost per person was between £20 and £30. Overall, I rated the food and service a perfect 5, while the atmosphere received a solid 4.

This was our first time visiting, and despite the “new management”, we were made to feel welcome and really looked after. Although some of the staff members seemed relatively new to their roles, they were attentive and showed true potential. The food was absolutely delicious as well, especially since there was only one chef running everything! We will be back for sure. Food: 5

Didn’t realise when booking this has recently changed owners. This Italian used to be authentic food, excellent service with an authentic atmosphere. Tonight was poor at best. Service was slow young waiter was ill equipped with knowledge waiting skills. Food was ok but constant burning smell from kitchen was very off putting. 1 of our party was ill after the meal! Birthday celebration. Service very slow, approx 3 hours for two courses for a group of 6 with only 4 others in restaurant at the time. Food reasonable when it arrived, albeit one main course arrived when others had finished. Young staff require more training. We live in Henley and like to support local eateries but questionable when we will return. Kid-friendliness: Requested two high chairs when booking but these had to be fetched when we arrived.

Now under new “management “ as of 22nd aug 23. Greeted by a young lad, who to be fair very personable but way out of he’s depth. Presumably put in this position by the manager, who spoke to non of his new customers. Drink and food service extremely slow. Looked to me like all the manager wanted to do was drink at the bar and sort out the knives and forks. When a table complained about the service and food availability, the manager had miraculously disappeared leaving the young waiter to fend for himself. Lastly, atmosphere awful, way too many spot lights and not sure how much of the music was Italian. Save yourself the journey and avoid.

The service was slow, but acceptable. The wine selection was good. However, the food was a major disappointment. The calamari seemed to be missing fish and was quite heavy, while the bruschetta was just a pile of soggy bread topped with tomato. The arancini was decent. Unfortunately, the main courses were even worse; the veal Milanese was initially undercooked, then battered and fried to a crisp, and a vegetarian diner received chicken pasta! Thankfully, these charges were removed from the bill. With so many other great dining options in Henley, I would recommend skipping this place. For vegetarians: we were served chicken pasta, which is quite unacceptable. Ver carta
