"Very nice reception in this establishment that takes you to another country. After a short visit to the map and order, here are our fresh dishes that arrive. The entrance, then the dish and dessert, which all seemed excellent to us. Nothing extraordinary that you will tell me, except that the boss is a character, who only asks to share his passion and culture and very generous are the service and his advice... nothing surprising that we have had such a beautiful evening. "What a wonderful surprise. Just off the N2 motorway near Soissons. We would not have normally stopped here but our B&B hosts suggested we give it a try "Its very cheap but very good". Perfectly true: 4 course meal costs E 14.50 and comprises a large salad bar, main course ( I chose Duck a L'orange ), cheeses and an enviable desert trolley, all with friendly service. Single main course is 8.50 I think.Clientele were local french families and long distance lorry drivers ( who obviously get to eat rather better in France than England ! ).Conveniently positioned for supper after a day visiting the sites on the lovely 'Rue de Dames' route. If you are in that area give it a try."

"We travelled in a group of 31 people to Soissons. On our second night we were booked to eat in the La Cathedrale. The meals were pre ordered as a package including an aperitif of KIR , a starter and a desert. There was a free glass of Heineken lager as well. Cost was 41.40 euros per head for our selection as we ordered similar meals. Shortly after arrival the manager Francois shouted at our lady group leader in the middle of the restaurant in front of us and residents of Soissons which did not help the situation at all. We were on holiday. When serving began the Aperitif took ages to arrive, we were not allowed to buy additional drinks which would have suited our tastes better. Main courses arrived and were directed to our table and each person by our Lady group leader. The quality of the main meals was below that provided by the Best Western Hotel a night earlier. After our starter the deserts were probably the next best course. One desert was rum baba and it was not what I was expecting at all. It was a Glass of rum with small baba dough balls in it and cream. The second desert was two cheeses portions served with salad and no bread or biscuits At this point we were asked if we wanted to buy additional drinks. Because of the upset caused by the manager and the bad customer service our table of five paid our bills and left. We would not return to this restaurant not because of the quality of the food, the décor, or the level of service received from the table waiting staff. But because of the disrespect and abuse our lady had received. Buyer beware."
