"After most of the day at the Pope's Palace we were so hungry and of course very few restaurants or places to eat at 5.00! We were so happy to find La Pause Gourmande in the small streets leading away from the Palace. The food was nourishing - nothing exceptional but priced accordingly. Salad fresh with good dressing, pancake good and my chicken and potatoes certainly did it's job. Beers with our meal, a couple of cakes and coffee later and we had eaten our early dinner. You won't rave about this but then the price is commensurate. I have eaten much lesser quality meals and paid much more. The service here is great - friendly and happy. A very pleasant experience all told. Don't hesitate if you just want a quick meal, particularly if it is at a time when most other restaurants are closed."

My friend and I stopped at the cafe for a quaint lunch during our tour of Avignon and it was wonderful. It was a lovely experience in a beautiful little cafe. I had a nice glass of wine, cheese plate and quiche, while my traveling companion had the plate du jour. Great service.

Great location, few yards from the exit of the Palace des Papes, the food was great as it was the very helpful staff. The only negative note is that 6 Euro for a bottle of San Pellegrino (water) is a little bit too much for the place and if compared to the prices of everything else that we had.

After the discovery of this bakery/restaurant during our walk in the streets of Avignon, we returned throughout our stay. The staff is super pleasant even with the constant affluence! , the dishes are very good at correct prices and the frame is really very beautiful. I really recommend this place! Ver carta

This was a wonderful small restaurant away from the expensive center, or place d'horloge. The service was wonderful, and plus my waitress was pretty cute ;) , but it was a nice family run atmosphere and they treated me very well. The service was quick and the food was very good. No complaints only good reviews!

Two stars rather than one because staff was nice. Worst crepes I've had in my life. Tasted like frozen microwaved crepes. And the ham and cheese was not a savory gallete, but rather, a white sweet crepe. My husband's quiche was pathetic. A tiny round microwaved quiche thrown on a plate with no salad, no nothing. Good location, cute outdoor seating and nice people.

"I'm a regular here, and I'm not the only one lol! This place is always packed, it's both a locals haunt and a place where well-advised tourists end up. I meet my friends here, I meet my colleagues here, I meet half the town here...And it draws out the locals every evening with good reasons! So, first off: Convenience. Just on the bank of the river, this place has it's own parking.Next, atmosphere: Clean shabby chic orientated decor, open central kitchen, usually pretty crowded, Italian chef.... This place has got the atmosphere where it should be for modern tasty Italian cuisine.Service: populated by hipster and punkette style waiters and waitresses, they might not be warm nor welcoming, but they polite and competent. The service is prompt and the wine suggestions correct.Food: my FAVOURITE part! I love Italian, and I just appreciate a place that does it right so much! Simple, clean, modern and tasty!Their pizzas are beyond a doubt the best in the region, special mention for the Bianca and the Cosi. Their pasta is mouth watering. But I always find the best on their menu to be their dish of the day (for example duck filet with apricots, tuna steak with Italian sauce, roast filet mignon...) and their veal schnitzel. In fact I am a regular to this place almost solely because of their veal schnitzel. Just gorgeous!Oh and their desserts.... Are just delicious, special mention for the raspberry-lemon-white chocolate parfait!Once again, this is not a budget eat-all-you-can low end pizzeria. The prices are midrange. But the cuisine is authentic and impeccable, the setting very pleasant, and it is definitely a place you will come back to after trying it once."
