"We were on a day trip to Metz from Luxembourg when we stumbled across this quiet but popular restaurant. We wanted French food at a reasonable price with a nice place to sit outside as the sun was shining. We were not disappointed. After seeing another customers food come out we both ordered Tartans which were tasty and generous in size. No starter or dessert needed. Both the house red and white wine were light and palatable for a light summer lunch. The square that this restaurant is on was quite empty on the day we visited but I can imagine it getting quite busy in the summer months. Definitely a lunchtime recommendation."

Slightly quirky restaurant with potato as the star attraction. Not for everyone, but food for cold days. Chicken dish was juicy, mash mince Reblochon great and salad freshly prepared

Was not expecting much in such a touristy spot, but was surprised. The beef stew was great, as were the fries that came with it. Flamkuchen great as well. Only thing that was mediocre was the sausage. Prices were reasonable and service friendly.

Great place for lunch/dinner for potatoes' lovers! I have never seen such an extensive list of potato based dishes, cooked in so many different ways. The restaurant has plenty of seats outside so great for enjoying the sunshine at lunchtime. Service is quick and effective.

we chose this place because of its terrasse in one of the main squares in metz, although we had some fears that it could be a tourist trap. it was not the case.the "puree grandmere de magret de canard" was ok, same as the flammkuche.price was reasonable, and the service was polite. Ver carta

It is a very nice down to earth restaurant. The portions are big and the prices low. Good atmosphere, typically french. They serve a lot of people throughout the day, so you shouldn't be expecting a michelin star type of service, but hey let's be realistic - food is great and a bargain.

The pedestrian Place Saint Jacques has probably the highest concentration of restaurants anywhere in Metz, and I thought this one was the most inviting. Delightful shady outside eating area. I enjoyed my lunch of Strasbourg sausages with spicy mustard, potatoes dauphinoises, draught 1664 and a green salad. Friendly efficient service.

This place had lots of traditional Alsace dishes, so I decided to try. It was a good idea. Food was good, not expensive, and service was also friendly and quick. For such a central location (place st. Jacques) it's a good choise and maybe one of the more economic ones. Certainly it's also the one that has more traditional local dishes to choose from. A nice place to visit. Ver carta

The food was what we expected, rustic but nice and big portions. Potatoes in all versions. I liked. the beef in sauce on a cold winter day with a nice dark beer. The white wine served as part of the menu is not worth mentioning. The waiter tried to convince us that a flammkueche was the the baked potato we had ordered, only after discussing he revised his opinion and brought the right order. He did apologize later.Nice atmosphere.

Late lunch - Potato dishes were a little fat from too much cream - due to our taste !The Duck breast with potatoes - were a little impacted with 4 pieses of very dry Duck breast (we like it rose) But we trust it have been in the micro. The other dish, Slices of Ham in potato gratin, was good taste, but still fat from cream. The service was OK, but nothing done that we really remember I think, this concept is better for the winter time.
