"DINNER FOR TWO A warm August evening. Anciua Pesce Povero is a Ligurian tavern in the center of Lucca, with tables inside (with air conditioning) and outside, in an alley. The owner is a courteous and communicative lady, who told us that she chose Ligurian cuisine to remember her grandmother. The dishes change according to the fish caught. You can choose between two menus, one complete (appetizers, first and second courses wine one quarter each , dessert and typical seafood), the other the same as the first course but with one course less (appetizers first course). The appetizers are tasty bites. I remember the anchovies in La Spezia pesto, amazing. There were two of us: we chose a full menu and a reduced one. We shared the second of the complete menu: fried anchovies, very good. The dishes are plentiful, the prices right, the quality excellent, the service fast and courteous, the place welcoming in its simplicity. In the end, we were full, but we also had a sorbet and a basil amaro. Then we rolled home, happily ever after. Thank you!"
