Nice: truffade, rosé wine from Languedoc. Average: Cold meet, wrong dish served. Location very central and nice outdoor terrace. Could improve: Quality of service

We really enjoyed our visit. Good food based on local produce (such as the Salers beef). Good service. Made our top 3 for dinner over a 2 week cycling trip across France.

Both waitresses are of exemplary kindness. The place is very maple and you feel good home cooking. They offer us to adapt all the dishes offered without meat. Once we're not looking at each other. Perfect! Ver carta

Passing through Murat and after reading a few reviews...I sat down there! Not really disappointed. ..very good sandwich-salad, the only downside is keeping the fries...frying oil should not have been first cooked. Fair price.

Good welcome, we are placed on a small table next to the fountain, very nice, we choose a tartare with homemade fries, salad, and a plate of bougnat, with salad, truffade, rosette, butter, country ham, country terrine, and big piece of cantal. Really hearty, we loved this restaurant which doesn't look like much!!!! Ver carta

We ate at Le Bar du Palais a few times while staying near Murat. The staff were welcoming and friendly, we enjoyed all our meals there. Excellent soups, generous salads, and truffade, all really tasty. Also on the menu a selection of tartines and daily specials e.g Pissaladière. Delicious desserts as well - try the warm chocolate cake. The mirabelle crumble was also lovely. Plenty of choice for vegetarians. Highly recommended.

We stopped at Murat for lunch on a long drive from Le Puy to Sarlat. It's a lovely town, on a hillside with beautiful old stone buildings, and completely free of tourists! Very little was open, so we went to this brasserie. I had a...humble burger with fries and salad, and it was great, just how I wanted it. Service was fast and friendly despite language difficulties, and price very reasonable. The outside tables in the old town had a great atmosphere-give this place a go if you are in the area.

Driving through a very cold Auvergne last week, we were struggling to find somewhere to stop and as the dreaded two o'clock approached, and with our stomachs rumbling, we stopped in this tiny town and headed for the only bar open. Surprisingly they welcomed us in and were more than happy to feed us from their daily specials menu - a very tasty piece of tuna and pork with a lovely sauce, washed down with local beer and followed by a very rich chocolate mousse. Not sure I will ever be in Murat again, but a very pretty (if cold) little town and a very enjoyable hour's stop. Thank you Ver carta
