"Attention: ceci n'est pas un restaurant. A moins que vous n'estimiez pas que des WC (handicap inclus) et un lavabo soient indispensables sans que l'on vous envoie vers les WC publics de l'autre côté du pont. A moins que vous ne vouliez ni carte des vins, ni fromages, ni dessert (un frigo vitré pour l'eau et les boissons sucrées, un congélo pour les glaces comme dans les bonnes baraques à frites). Pendant les mois frais ou pluvieux, ne cherchez pas la salle de restaurant puisque, très habilement, il est écrit "plats à emporter". Sinon la friture est bonne et le patron affable. N'escomptez pas une salade verte : cela risquerait de "faire restaurant" et la DSV pourrait intervenir.4 ans à Abzac, depuis 6 ans à Confolens: un anglais roublard... Classique, quoi!"

"After two weeks in the charente without French restaurant (all was closed for the season) we came over this restaurant while we visited the pretty village of Esse. Only from looking at the building was clear that this was a successful... consciousness and we booked this day in the row. Our broken French had no problem because the staff quickly ensured that we had an English menu and English speakers served us while we were able to practice the language. The food was exceptional and cheap. We had Steak and Dessert. It was the best meal we ever had in France. Unfortunately we came to the end of our holiday or we would eat there regularly. They even open on a Sunday! Tres bee to all. Very recommended."

"I left a five-star rating earlier for this fabulous place, but as soon as they opened, I think it is very much that Mary and Nick have gone from strength to strength in every respect. The ambience is excellent, the service is personal and well maintained while not intrusive. The wide range of spectacular teas and coffee is in the second to none and everywhere is immaculately clean and beautifully artistic, a real pleasure just to be there. But what about the food you ask? Well, I left the best until last, as the food is so good and consistent. Perfectly fresh and fabulously tasty, all house cooked with health in the head, you will not find better. Mary cooks and prepares everything that leaves her kitchen to maintain the strictest quality control. This is our "fortunate place." You can park on the square in Confolens and enjoy the beautiful short walk over the old bridge or you can drive around and find parking by the river or along the road. If you can, this is a popular place loved by French and English locals."

"We were passing to Confolens to eat in a restaurant. We went to this restaurant and the people who served us were kind. He came to see us regularly to see if everything was going well.Only hic it was hot in the room. A ceiling fan would have been good, except that everything was good food"

"I was there on Wednesday 21. No presentation of menus... Just a chalk pencil with a basic menu... Very common in the plate... No fungus for the apero, despite our request... Bof, I will not be seen again... (I pass on the tattooed waitress, the little cook with its ring in the nose and without resilting on the head, the table neighbours, English and noisy... the only positive point, the pinard, very good, and very expensive... an entrance map and dishes on a We were 4, we never saw it...So, I didn't know that anti-covid measures did not recommend amuses-gails, so how is it that kitchen staff can work without visible hygiene measures??? We don't know if we have to laugh or weep...As for the "powerfulness of the staff, it participates in the quality perceived by the customer who, I remind you, has paid the addition that allows you to survive..."
