"We visited for an evening meal. Service was prompt and friendly, our waitress was helpful and attentive. The starters were excellent. I had a carrot soup with toasted prawns - it was delicious and I could have had another bowl. SWMBO had salmon spring rolls which were actually wrapped on salmon and pronounced them a great success. The mains weren't as good. SWMBO went for a vegetarian burger which turned out to be a sort of rice cake with an avocado paste - nicer than my description but she said it was a bit weird. Meanwhile I had what was described (iirc) as a baked loin of lamb. It turned out to be effectively some chops baked in pastry. It was nice if a little bland, but there wasn't a lot if it and there wasn't much with it in the way of accompaniment either. For desert I had a creme brûlée and vanilla and pineapple ice cream concoction (struggled a bit with the translation on this one) - it was actually very nice. Everything was beautifully presented, the starters and desert were delicious but we felt the main courses were lacking a bit. Would still be happy to give it another visit, the overall experience was positive."

Very nice meal in Poitiers. All 4 of us had something different from the menu and it was all really nice. Good size portions and reasonably priced.

Had a lunch there, only Plat de Jour, but staff were helpful, as we weren't sure what we were eating, and the food was excellent and would highly recommend it for a lunch. We tend not to eat in the evening Lovely atmosphere and staff

I dinned here twice in one week, it is clear that the chef owner is a food passionate.Nothing is disappointing, I enjoyed every single bite.Too bad for me, I stopped eating red meat, I know that he excels with hand picked meats.Excellent by the glass wine selection and reasonable too.Impeccable service by two lovely ladies, chef stays incognito.Don't hesitate, he deserves our patronage and we deserve his pampering.Thank you chef.

Those guys restored my faith in finding an eating establishment that fits my standards. For 10,50 euros you can have a simple lunch that will satisfy the most demanding customer.A succulent flank steak that is freshly cut prepared to your liking served with roasted potatoes and lettuce, followed by " îles flottantes " creamy, light and flavorful.Other limited choices are available.Good selection of wine, good bread.Very attentive and pleasant service. What more does anyone expect! Thank you bistro for the treat.

Called in on Sunday lunch service, we hadn't booked, the place was quite busy with a nice atmosphere. Excellent starter of beetroot tarte tatin followed by a grilled ham (which is unusual for France) good homemade chips and a duckling breast on a bed of parsnip mash. All really good, especially the starter. Selection of mini desserts, the star being the mini chocolate fondant. Nice bottle of wine. Good service (spoke sufficient English to help when were struggling) quite a choice on the menu and at a reasonable price.

A group of 7 decided to give this restaurant a try having already had 2 excellent meals on the previous evenings. Although the restaurant is small they made room for us and provided menus in English for those who wanted them. The menu was varied and the food was first class. I had the Fois Gras to start and the chicken as a main; both were superb. Others had the carpaccio, smoked salmon or baked Brie to start followed by beef encroute, rack of lamb, the house salad all of which were great. The waitress was very nice and our food was served promptly. This was the best of three restaurants that we visited during our short stay, well worth a visit.

I rated this establishment as best of Poitiers. This time they managed to prouvé that nothing is forever.Sashimi of scallops and oyster in an oyster shell, no taste whatsoever, nothing. For a city close to the sea and oysters are face flavorful on their own.Opted for the Spanish burger with the monchago cheese, they ran out of and replaced it with don't know what, OK but to serve me a 5 ounce frozen burger that went through a freezer burn before the microwave to come completely dead when I asked for a medium rare, is an insult. Soggy fries and stale bun. When I asked for the mustard, it came in plastic packets.Baba au rhum, saved by the rhum.A message to the chef:This is the place where I ha...

We spotted this in Central Poitiers. It is in the sort of area near the main attractions that make you doubtful that you will get a good meal at a sensible price but we were not disappointed by the meal at all. It was tasty, served promptly and in a pleasant cafe atmosphere at the end of the lunchtime period. We had two Formules. The steak, done 'a Point' with burn marks on the outside but still very pink in the middle was excellent. The accompanying parsely roast potatoes were perfect. The beetroot salad was also very well received. Deserts were tempting and tasty. Our only disappointment was that the bill was a lot more than we'd expected when reading the menu. BUT, here's a first for me,...

It's hard to review a restaurant that positions itself so strongly at two ends of the spectrum. The tuna carpaccio was downright horrible and tasted like the refrigerator, as did the tomato gazpacho, which was either too sharp with vinegar or starting to go rancid. However, the leg of lamb was superbly prepared and wonderfully presented. What happened here? You would not have known that this was the same restaurant.Wait service was reasonably very good, considering it was Saturday night, with a full house. The restaurant was super understaffed. So beware that you will wait a very long time between each stage of the food service.Gazpacho entree: crab ravioli was so bland and over fried, nearl...
