"Please note: This review is about Le Mandragore at Hotel Tres Paticulier in Montmartre. The address is 23, avenue Junot, Pavillon D, 75018 Paris I wanted to go while I was here in December, but I waited to long and found the restaurant was closed over the Christmas holidays. So I tried booking from home when I knew I'd be coming here this week. For some reason I couldn't get my international call to go through so I took a chance and sent them an email. When I didn't get a response confirming, I assumed I did not get a reservation. Yesterday while I was at lunch, I got that confusing voice mail which when I called back found out that I did indeed have a 7:30 reservation.Note: when you go, I highly recommend you make a reservation for no earlier than 8 pm. At 7:30 you will be the only person in the restaurant! But the good news is, the lovely hostess gave me a tour of the restaurant and the bar, Le Tres Particulier, downstairs. It is a truly spectacular building! Formerly home to the Hermes family, it is a bit tricky to find. I had walked in the neighborhood before and couldn't find it. This time I went through the private gates and was guided by a nice young man to the entrance. You even have to ring the bell to get in the front door.Hotel Tres Particulier has 5 suites, Le Mandragore, a wonderful restaurant, and the aforementioned bar with a cozy room and a lovely greenhouse type room that looks onto a private garden. Weekend brunch can be had down here and cocktails and tapas most evenings. I will be back for cocktails. When the opportunity presents itself, I always go for the tasting menu. Last night it was a very good decision! I started with a vodka martini, very well made to order. The tasting menu was 5 courses (stretched to 7 with a couple of petit extras) and I opted for the wine pairings with a selection of 3 verres de vin.An amuse bouche, a bowl of mussel soup, was a tasty starter before the starter. My first wine was a superb Voignier (which could find me being a white wine convert!). The next "starter" was haddock with cassava and bourbon vanilla, taro and okra, banana and combawa. Light with a complex combination of flavors. A follow on "starter" was the cochon de 72 h, pig cooked for 72 hours with a cabbage foam, camomile flower, pale ale cream and a pretzle. The second wine was a Pinot Noir. ExcellentFor my main I selected Cochon Iberique, Iberian pork with calamari and chorizo, vinho verde, chicory and blood orange. It was an excellent choice! With this came my third wine and I'm sorry to say I don't recall what it was but it was more robust than the previous two and was excellent. In fact, I ended up having a second glass of it!Two desserts followed; first a wonderful Pear-pepper mousse with fresh lychees and crispy pear, then because no dessert is complete without chocolate - a wonderful "Chocolat du Vietnam" with ginger confit and Thai basil. When I commented to my server that I didn't know that chocolate was a product of Vietnam, he told me it had been sourced by his brother!Last touch two petite hazelnut merengues and a visit from the Chef! I don't know if it's just a Paris thing, but I most always get a visit from the Chef at the end of a meal and I find it a delightful experience! So many of my American tourist friends look high and low for places where they will find only French people and hear no English spoken. I have to say that last night was exactly that, with the exception of an English family who came after 9 pm with two small children and absolutely underdressed for the occasion. They ordered for the children from the bar menu. I have to think they were guests of the hotel. Otherwise the guests were all French and all prepared for an upscale experience. Service was absolutely perfect. I had a combination of two very handsome servers who chatted just the right amount and rewarded me with some interesting side stories. I got away without saying goodbye to one and he came out the front door and shook my hand on the stairs, thanking me for my visit. There is a small room in the front with just two tables, a fireplace and a host of stuffed animals. I think this would be an absolutely cozy and wonderful place for a romantic dinner. Or a small group or a friend's special birthday.Afternote: Be sure to use the restroom! And I will let that be a surprise."

We had the joy of eating at Thierry Marx's table and we are not disappointed with performance! The flavors, the presentation, the service... everything is irreproachable. And that for a relatively reasonable price for a lunch. Thank you so much to everyone, waitress and waitress.

a dinner in love almost perfect. An intimate setting and almost perfect plates. A classic kitchen but decorated with small original touches perfectly made. a chef with small care and a smiling, professional and proactive service. A very successful evening. a little salty, but the frame and plates have passed all.
