Le Parvis - Carta

Restaurant directly across from the Cathedral, you walk into what looks like a bar and you find yourself in a restaurant with a superb menu. Recommend it highly.

Restaurant would not have been visited if we had read reviews beforehand. However The food, service, value was excellent. Would recommend. Had an excellent dinner

The descriptions on the menu were promising. Too bad they don't deliver. The free appetiser, the starters and the main course were all obviously reheated food from the freezer. Ver carta

The one and two star reviews say more about the reviewer than the restaurant. The best location in town, and the town the best in Picardie. The ambiance and welcome couldn't be faulted. Good wine selection and who cares about the mark-up when they're good. Great food well cooked. Not cheap, so don't come if you're on a budget.

Just across the square from the entrance to the cathedral. Pleasant service.We were not rushed as we lingered over our drinks. We did not eat but the size of portions being served on adjacent tables was generous the the comments were highly complimentary. Not a particularly cheap stop but what do you expect from a prime location opposite the Cathedral.

This place has a great location looking onto the impressive Laon Cathedral. Learning from experience in other French restaurants, we decided to go with the lunch specials. Turned out to be a good decision! The food was freshly cooked with good ingredients, very enjoyable. We ended up going for dessert because what we saw arriving at other tables looked so good! We walked in on a Friday evening without a reservation and were greeted warmly by the host and seated immediately. The host and the waitress were patient with our broken French. We had an excellent meal - smoked salmon and asparagus soufflé as starters and then duck breast with a citrus jus and chicken with a creamy sauce. The vegetables were quite well prepared. Desserts were sweet and tasty.

We arrived at 4pm in freezing fog on 3rd Jan. Laon was dead! Only Le Parvis was open. Hot chocolate lifesaver! Madame the proprietress acted as an informal Office de Tourisme, telephoned her friends and fixed us up with hotel accommodation around the corner. Brilliant! Came back for superb evening meal, delicious well cooked food, fantastic Duck Parmentier & Rum Baba, and all surrounded outside in gothic swirling freezing mist under the towering front of Laon Cathedral. A Harry Potter experience!

Our family of 6 visited the beautiful cathedral and we wanted to continue enjoying our day with a lovely French meal. We decided to lunch at Le Parvis. We had 4 children with us all wanting different things and I felt bad at first for the waitress attending our table with our multiple changes and modifications to the meals and deserts, and changing of tables because of the sun. The waitress was however very happy to accommodate us, she was smiley, polite, efficient, and lovely. We all enjoyed a simple, tasty and very well presented food. The service was very good and the food more than decent. A very good experience all around! Ver carta
