"We arrived in Bordeaux late on Thursday evening and we were staying in the St. Michel area. As we were both tired from unpacking and travelling, we wanted something wholesome and close by without getting too lost on our first night in Bordeaux, so after looking on TripAdvisor, we decided on 'Le Rizana'. The menu is a little bit basic, as there is no explanation what the dishes include. For example, 'tagine d'agneau' or lamb tagine doesn't say whether it includes salad or whether it has an accompaniment or even whether it needs one, although there is a separate section for salads and couscous on the menu. Equally the 'assiettes' for example, 'assiete kofte' doesn't say what it includes but I just guessed as it was a 'plate' and after seeing nearby tables, I ordered the assiette kofte and an apricot juice while my partner ordered the lamb tagine with beer. The service was lovely and attentive, if a little slow at times. We received the usual bread and tap water which is customary in France, which was a nice attention to detail. The food took a little while to come, but when received it was understandable because it was clear that the chips with my assiette were hand cut and fried fresh. My assiette was served with a bowl of salad and fresh chips. In my partner's tagine there were potatoes and vegetables that were beautifully spiced, which filled him up as it was a wholesome dish. He mopped up the remaining sauce with some bread and surprisingly was full, so he didn't need any additional side dishes luckily! When it came to paying, there was a bit of a kerfuffle, as we were told to pay inside at the till, however, the main waiter had disappeared and a younger man served us. We gave 30 euros and there was change to come but the waiter spoke quickly in French, and told us to wait as he had input something wrong in the till, which we didn't quite catch as my French was quite rusty. He then disappeared. Another man then appeared and asked us what we were waiting for; I tried to explain that the younger gentleman had told us to wait but I wasn't sure what for. After awkwardly waiting a little longer, the younger male returned with 5 euros change! Now we understood!!! We took the change and went home. Overall the meal was lovely. Not haute cuisine but yummy and filling!"
