"Only found this place after trying unsuccessfully to get into other places that were 'full '. A crazy way to do business, it seems most book a table for the whole evening, they don 't stipulate late or early eating thereby potentially losing a lot of business for those families wanting an early meal. This place however was recommended by our Hotel La Grande Cascade, a 15 minute walk away into town. Well worth it however, the starter of salmon and duck with salad was terrific, the steak main delicious and tender unlike some other places where it was tough as boots. The ham and cheese dish was also very tasty. Desert wonderful. The best meal we had during our stay in Le Mont Dore, with the meal, including wine, desert, for a family of 4 being less than 80€!"

We had a very good evening with friends at Estavou. All the dishes ordered were copious and finely cooked (special mention to the sweetbreads).

Very good restaurant, we had dinner with friends and all the dishes were very tasty, the cooking of the fish was perfect! the impeccable service and everyone served at the same time! go for it, it's a very good place

We only eat fish, so cannot comment on the entire menu. We arrived late in a snow covered Mont Dore and took the advice of our B&B hosts. Although we were so tired we would have accepted almost anything, the opposite was the case. The fish, especially when served in filo pastry parcels with blue cheese, was devine. The set menus are very good value, but it's worth checking as certain dishes do not apply. Also, you may find the size of the the dishes means you think twice about adding a dessert. It was without doubt the best meal we had during our 4 day stay.
