"we have just returned from an excellent meal in the restaurant in caerwylan hotel. we booked it on the basis of tripadvisor reviews and were not disappointed. our eating was absolutely first advice. we would recommend the mango Prawn court and the terrine. as start the fish and the lamb main courses and the panna cotta as dessert; we would be very surprised if the other courts in the offer were not equally good. service was also very good. all employees were pleasant and efficient. we had coffee in the lounge with a fantastic view of the sea. it was our first day in criccieth so we can't compare it with other restaurants in the city, but it was a great start to our short high season in wales."

"We arrived early, so maybe that’s why we had to wait a while before we were asked for our order. It certainly wasn’t VERY busy. I ordered the fish cake as a starter, which was quite large and well presented. Perhaps could have done with a touch more seasoning to really bring out the flavours. My mains was the lamb, which was superb, possibly the best I’ve ever had, and came with plenty of veg. Husband had the pasta with mushrooms. I’d warned him that it might be a smallish plate, and he could be left feeling hungry, but how wrong was I. He had to leave some as he was full. Puds were good, and the wine was good value. Total bill was reasonable, and we left feeling we had had a great quality meal for a fair price. I only wish we had such a good restaurant near where we live. Well done, Poachers!"

"With 2 dogs it is virtually impossible to get an evening meal in this area when wanting to eat indoors as you would do at this time of year. An Internet search found this pub and, based on experiences to date during our holiday, we...rang the pub from where we were for the day Porth Dinllaen. We spoke to a helpful male member of staff who confirmed dogs were welcome, a reservation was not required and we should simply turn up. So, we travelled the 15 miles and found the pub which was admittedly busy. On entering I spoke with a female member of staff working behind the bar asking about a table and pointing out we had dogs. Her manner suggested she had no interest in trying to accommodate us. I was told there were no tables available, others were already waiting and it would not be possible to give any estimate of when a table might come free as 'it is just a pub '. Zero customer service skills. I did walk away before going back to speak with the same member of staff telling her about the earlier phone call but again zero interest so we departed. As I have said we could see it was busy but the attitude of this one individual is not what we as visitors to the area expected to experience. We won 't ever go there again."

"We picked this cafe to have lunch in, in advance of our trip to Criccieth Castle. It was only a short walk away, and the pull in by the castle, and plentiful street parking were free. We had not been able to find the lunch menu online but phoning the night before, a lovey lady assured us of the wide menu, and saved us a table. We were delighted to find a warm welcome, prompt service and a full menu. I had the seafood latter, which was almost half the price of a well known other restaurant in the town. Delicious and plentiful, with a tasty salad and italian bread and butter. The tea was the best I have ever drunk, being served in an old fashioned china cup, and refillable teapot, using proper loose tea. My husband enjoyed his omelette and Mocca coffee. We did not have room for dessert (and we like our food! . We noticed young families, and older couples, all enjoying the vibrant atmosphere and food. We highly recommend."

"I have dined at this restaurant several times in the past, but not in the last five years. I recently took some friends there because it used to serve decent curry. Unfortunately, it seems that the restaurant has changed ownership. The Chicken Pakoras were overcooked and tough, and the Nawabi Khana was very bland with no heat. We also found four bones in our dish, so diners should be cautious. Our guests experienced similar issues with overcooked chicken and bland flavors, as well as finding bones in their food. The garlic naan was the highlight of the evening. The restaurant needs to improve quickly if they want to stay open. I suggest that the staff visit a curry house in Bradford for comparison."
