"Having visited the castle we nipped into the village of Dunster for afternoon tea and saught out Locks Victorian Tea Rooms having viewed it previously on a Youtube video of Dunster. The venue is lovely and accessed through a short alley entrance from the main street, leading into courtyard seating. It also has indoor and garden seating and is deceptively spacious. Our welcome, the service and our food and drinks were all lovely and without fault. Two pasties, two cream teas, and a couple of coffees later and time to pay the bill..... a very reasonable price, somewhat less than I had been expecting and not at all the over inflated 'Let 's rinse the tourist ' charges made by some of Dunster 's other venues. A big 'Well Done ' to Locks Victorian Tea Rooms. We will be back."

We were lucky with the weather and had lunch in the garden. The BLT is probably the best I’ve ever had, highly recommend!!

Fast service and tasty food but really quite expensive for basic menu. Nice to have GF options available and both inside and outside seating.

Food was good although portions a little small, it's basically a tea room with a limited food menu. Ploughman's was small for £12.50, pasty was nice but you literally get a pasty and some side salad for £8. We enjoyed what we had we just...

A regular customer, that is until today. For context, the tearooms were not at all busy. We arrived just as the waitress was apologising to a family who had been waiting, this should have been a warning! The waiting staff barely acknowledged us, and disappeared...

We were in Dunster and looking for some lunch, stumbled across locks tea room down a cute little alleyway. Would highly recommend as food lovely, great value and the service from Iona was great and she got our over complicated order spot on … will return … thank you.

Delightful tearoom, garden and courtyard area, good service especially considering it was very busy due to it being Mother’s Day. Amazing scones especially the ginger ones with honey and clotted cream. Friendly staff and lovely homemade cakes too. Will definitely be back.

We were lucky enough to be able to sit outside in November! Fantastic Freshly made doorstep sandwich and luscious homemade fruit cake and coffee walnut cake. The lady serving was so friendly with everyone and made the experience even nicer. An absolute must if you visit Dunster, we are only here for the weekend and plan on going back again before we go home!!

From the minute we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. The waitress was very helpful and attentive with a great sense of humour. We were sat in the rear garden which was very peaceful. When the food arrived it was well presented and the scones were to die for. They were the perfect combination of crusty outside and soft and warm in the middle. We highly recommend the ginger scone with honey and clotted cream. If you get a chance to visit Dunster then make sure you make time to go here and check it out

I had the ploughmans, very well presented with a delicious coleslaw, chutney and cheese scone. The slice of Cheddar was rather small but otherwise the meal was lovely and reasonably priced. We had scones with cream and jam/honey.I had the ginger scones which were lovely. There was a mix up with our order and my daughter was given the wrong scones, this was remedied but unfortunately the new scones served were still partly frozen. We have been here several times over the years and is our go to cafe when ever we visit the delightful Dunster

The George Inn

The George Inn

"Yet again we needed to celebrate having resolved a long standing technical problem. The pub in Brompton Regis came up in discussion the evening before when our neighbour was around for a glass of wine. He said that before coming to our village he’d looked at houses in Brompton Regis. He left and we booked a table. Friday was a damp day but we were not deterred as we drove up into the Brendon Hills, usually distant views greet one but this day the clouds were dominant. However as we descended from Roborough Gate towards Wimbleball Lake we could turn off the wipers. By the time we crossed the bridge at the top of the lake a shaft of sun broke through and sparkled across the surface of the water whilst light wisps of mist kissed the shore line. Rounding the churchyard wall always raises our expectations for there is the George Inn. The bar door was hardly open before Tash, a beaming smile, greeted us with a price board for ‘COFFEE’. I said in my previous review that I wouldn’t mention coffee at the George again, sorry, but I must. The coffee machine had arrived the day before. Well done Tripadvisor the George! We had a wonderful starter of Baba Ganoush, new to the menu that day. It was exceptionally good with delicate flavour. Following on was chicken breast and pasta with tomato sauce, again great flavour though my wife found it a little too greasy. My Bengal curry was fantastic and a most generous serving. Our ‘Desert,’sic, was Chocolate Ganache with pistachio ice cream under crunched nuts. I had the steamed maple syrup pudding set in a delicious whisky sauce, a very delicate and light texture, just right to finish on after the curry! Of course we had our long awaited espressos from the new device, a delicious finale to our meal. Earlier in walkers had dropped in wanting a coffee. Now all on Exmoor should be heading to the George for their ‘hit’."
