"It was our last night in Napoli and we headed down to L'osteria with rumbling stomachs ready for some delicious Italian food. My word were we not disappointed. The best way to end our trip. We arrived and our waiter, I think his name was Davide (excuse me if I have spelt that incorrectly), welcomed us with the biggest smile and sat us down in the cosy back room. There wasn't a menu, just the recommendations from Davide. Fried courgette flowers; basil and pea arincini balls and, honestly, the best croquettes we have ever eaten they were like little fried clouds. We moved on to our pasta mains and it only got better. A mussel spaghetti and pasta alla Genovese that absolutely blew our minds. We washed it down with their house wine and a couple glasses of limoncello. Full to the brim we left with smiles on our faces. We'll definitely be back again."

Delicious honest memorable. How I wish I could write that in Italian. Such charming patient service. Such great food. Extremely good value. Decent wine a half bottle of falanghina, two antipasti, pasta con gambas, gorgeous desserts. 10 out of 10.

The whole evening was a fantastic experience. Paulo was extremely patient and helpful. When the menu was written in Italian, he went through every dish in detail and even showed photos of some dishes. He also brought several wines to the table and went through them in the same detail. More importantly, the food was great and so was the wine. At the end of the meal, his father booked us a taxi and waited outside with us until it arrived. It was definitely our best meal in Naples Sorrento. Ver carta

The restaurant opened a few minutes after 20:00 with the lights turning on at 20:05 or so. Our reservation was at 20:00, so we didn't see the restaurant at all until we realized we were lost. When we consulted Google Maps and turned around, we saw the proprietor turn on the light. Strange. After being greeted by the chef or owner (we have no idea who he was), he yelled at Lucca the waiter to tell him to deal with us. Lucca apparently is the only person who speaks English and the proprietor didn't even bother to try to speak Italian to me (which I actually do speak). The food itself was good. The quality and preparation of the meal were high and we enjoyed every course.

"Very nice ambience. The restaurant is located in an old construction near Baia's port. You eat in the middle of an old courtyard, feeling like you are back in the 1950s. Very good tableware. A bit less comfortable is the entrance, as the place is right on the street, very busy and dangerous on saturday night. Service is good too, just a bit harrassing with waiters explaining every dish with long descriptions one forgets the second lates they finish. That is part of an atmosphere the owner wants to be classy and elegant. The problem is that food is not at the same level. I mean, it is good and fresh, especially raw fish, but preparations are too standard to justify an averagely high price. In a table of 7, we had cold and hot starters including raw seafood and one main dish (paranza fried fish for some and catch of the day for the others), plus 5 desserts and white wine. I believe 310€ are a bit too much for what we had, not really in terms of quantity, but for the quality of the preparations. One example is the cold starter: a dish composed by 5 different starters to be eaten from left to right, from lighter to stronger taste. You start with one single raw sea truffle, go on with a tuna tartare, one single raw baby red shrimp with burrata, raw calamari slices and finally smoked salmon. Good quality and right taste, but nothing new, no special work from the chef, that's food you can find in every good-standard restaurant in the area of Naples. Same with the fish we had: too simple. In my view, simplicity is a positive value in food, but not for a place that wants to construct its own style on a classy and elaborate (and expensive) cuisine concept. Different situation concerning the desserts which I personally didn't try but left my friends with very good sensations. In conclusion, it's worth a try, can be good for a romantic tête-à-tête or a dinner with friends, but don't expect a special experience."
