Maggie's Kitchen - Carta

I visited this restaurant for the first and last time. The fish batter was incredibly bad, like a sponge. It was the worst I've ever had.

The essential for fish and chips is that they should taste good. Here they do and not too oily. Low prices, but fish on the small side. Could do with a large fish on the menu.

We called in as we had family visiting for the day it was a Monday the doors were open as I walked in but no one anywhere to be seen I even called out but no reply obviously closed but not locked up Ver carta

Good fish and chips here. Usually crisp and hot. Fish could be bigger but batter is excellent. Mushy peas are just right. They also do specials too so pies and liver and onions. Parking can be difficult

Lovely chips but the young girls serving could smile!!! I disagree with the statement as regards the potatoes,rubbish it’s how you cook them you wouldn’t have any customers if that was the case and good customer service wouldn’t do your staff any harm ,but as...I say the food was good and believe me I know !!!

Maggie was recommended to us by friends. We visited for some fish and chips. The restaurant was clean, but it was surprisingly quiet for a Saturday night. All the employees appeared to be students working part-time. The quality of the fish was great, but it was ruined by the soggy, spongy batter. We ended up scraping most of it off. The portion size of the chips was generous, but they were mushy. The prices were reasonable. Unfortunately, we won't be returning, at least for the fish and chips, where a good batter is essential. My family of four visited this restaurant for lunch. We ordered fish and chips with mushy peas for three of us, and just chips and mushy peas for one of us. The portions were generous, with three of us unable to finish our meals. The fish was a good size and we all agreed that the mushy peas were a delicious addition to our meal. The staff did not skimp on portions and everything was served hot and flavorful. The only downside was that some of the chips were very small and seemed like scraps, possibly due to the type of potatoes used. The staff was quick and efficient, and the prices were very reasonable.

A couple of weeks ago my husband brought home a portion of chips mushy peas and gravy) for a quick lunch treat. The chips were awful and greasy and not eaten. Thinking this was just a blip to the usually excellent food served by...Maggies, I bought a portion of chips and fish at 12ish today. While in the shop I mentioned our disappointment with the previous portion of chips. The very nice person serving me suggested it was to do with poor quality of potatoes and that this had been rectified with the usual potatoes now being cooked. What another disappointment today ... the fish was already cooked and I didn't need to wait for it however when we came to eat it, it was very greasy. If you push...

I had a little chicken cure with rice and a broken squid (order both, if I didn't like, I could at least have the others so I didn't go hungry). with the fish I never had food in my life that has absolutely no taste whatever. it was also quite greasy, but I didn't notice too much. I was more disappointed that it had 0% taste. the chicken cure with rice was also disappointing. it had about two chickens. the curry also had much too much fun in it, for example mushroom. it had more sweet than huh and it's a chicken curry! the sauce, however, was decent. I went back to maggie in 2018 or 2019. I ordered chips and they were not nice because they had no taste. I thought I would give maggies another... Ver carta
