very nice ..well priced..quick service and friendly..pub needs money spent on it though..carpets and toilets need upgrading

Burger was burnt but apart from that food was still nice xx Kids food good Lots of tables are dirty still had plates on when I arrived.

Ordered on the app, even though it was quiet, we waited a long time for the drinks, would have been quicker to go to the bar and order. It’s in need of a deep clean, feels very dirty and I never saw a table wiped in the whole time we were there

waited ages for my food and drinks , outside smelt like your chilling in a dump smelt like bin bags left outside for a week in the heat, now if you go down stairs theres a door that leads to a closet where madeleine mccann could be but yeah avoid

It took 40 minutes for my American Classic Burger to be served at my sticky table at table 25. The restaurant was short-staffed, with only one middle-aged lady serving food and one unfriendly young lady clearing tables at 2pm on Easter Monday. The burger was small and not worth the price. The chips were served with over-fried onion pieces. I regret not going to Burger King, where I could have enjoyed a tastier Whopper meal for a similar price. I may consider becoming a secret shopper in the future.

I was extremely disappointed when I ordered drinks at 5:26 pm and had still not received them by 5:45 pm. When I asked the waitress about it, she said she couldn't find our table and my drinks were just left on the side of the bar. When I informed them that I was leaving and asked for a refund, the manager processed it but mentioned it would take 2 days. I had to specifically ask for a refund receipt and no apology was given. This experience really put a damper on my day, especially since I was already frustrated with my kids at dinner time.

Overall, my experience at Standard Spoons was decent in terms of value for a meal out. However, there were some issues that affected our dining experience. We were served with dirty cutlery, which was frustrating as we had to wait in line to ask for new cutlery. This caused our food to get cold. I had the big cheese Christmas chicken burger, which was tasty but not significantly different from a regular chicken burger. The portion sizes were a bit small, particularly the halloumi fries. Despite this, the atmosphere inside the restaurant was nice and I have been here a few times before for food. I may consider returning in the future. Firstly just to say, all the reviews left here seeking this place to be a top class eatery, its NOT, its a Wetherspoons, if your expecting food from The ritz, then go to the Ritz. These places are amazing value for money, thats why these people went there whom left negative reviews. Ive NEVER had a bad pint or food in ANY of these establishments. This particular Wetherspoons in the top of town in Basingstoke is always a pleasure to visit, always relaxed, attentive staff and a quick and polite service. I must add Ian in the bar is the ultimate polite and courteous bar man, his patience and manorism is second to none, i would pay this guy to give other bar staff from other pubs a lesson on jus...
