We visited for a work meal and we all had a great time and enjoyed the food and drinks very much. The only small issue keeping it from being a wholly outstanding experience was the time it took for the food to come out, it seemed to take a long time for the mains to arrive. The staff were friendly and happy to help and did a great job, and the chefs also did a lovely job on the food. Overall, I would definitely recommend the restaurant and would come back.

it's not wrong to do something that's different now and then. for example, they could write a food review and maybe insert some movie references or throw some songtexts in the mix, see if someone noticed. but sometimes they want something traditional. like a Sunday dinner. this should be a nice relaxed affair with friends and family gathered around a big table. enjoy their appetizer and main course and overwhelm them with dessert and then sleep on the sofa in front of the telly.

The food was really lovely, and I had one of the best cocktails I've had in my life. The ambience is what you would expect at a Malmaison, and the music is always at the right volume for a nice meal. Our only complaint was that we were served by about five people, most of whom seemed to be in training, so we were asked if we wanted something else or if everything was okay about 20 times during a two course meal. Twice would have sufficed, and it didn't seem like the manager (whoever they were it wasn't clear) didn't know who was in charge of which table. Again, amazing food and ambience but service could have been smoother.

I'm not one who rushes into a hotel restaurant, but we had our Christmas party in the hotel and they gave us discount vouchers for the restaurant so a colleague and I make time to use them. I think we were the only ones who bothered, stupid fellows! my expectations were not very high, but I did not have the red face on the left. the food was immense! I had the very good bride top burger. my colleague was served with a hug and perfectly cooked steak. for the desert we both went for the chocolate soaps, which was complete food porn on all levels! to read more about my visit, they go to my January-Post called well that was an surprise

I had bought a voucher deal for malmaisons on Sunday dinner, consisting of a suppe and/or buffet starter, a brunch or lunch and dessert. we were shown on our table and the menu that lists the contents of the buffet together with the main and desserts. there was a selection of brunch options, including a cooked breakfast, and for lunch options there were some roasts and some other main parts like burger. I decided to risk the full scale over eating and ordered the 1⁄2 frying. my friend went for eier benedikt. we had to wait for someone to accept our order, but we thought the buffet table was never too busy. that seemed to work...read more

at malmaison is the color of the spring shocking pink and they serve up to 2 cures for £19.95 in one of my favorite spots in edinburgh – the shore, leith since it was almost weeks and undoubtedly a Friday and 5 o'clock somewhere, we decided to start the night with cocktails. first was a classic, pina colada. prost! chez mal bar also has an early listing for cocktails and we must try the rhubard and basil gimlet – brockmans gin, chase rhubard likör, limette, sugar, cranberry bitters and basilikum. quite tart with a beautiful sweet at the end, but with a hearty note through it from the basilikum. melts incredible. there are other jump cocktails to try as the...read more

Now, not one to miss out on a good offer, I spotted a fantastic deal on Itison for Malmaison Edinburgh it was purchased and set aside for a rainy day. That rainy day appeared last Sunday, we had had a fantastic Saturday at Foodies and wanted to continue the fantastic food into Sunday. A table for 2 was booked and off we went We’ve eaten in the Malmaison before, their Big Sunday Lunch is something not to be missed. The dark wood and cosy lighting makes it no better place to be when the rain is bouncing of the ground. The offer was 2 Classic Malmaison Burgers, fries and relish plus a glass of wine or a schooner of beer each We arrived, looking a little disheveled thanks to the...read more

Malmaison sits a little apart from the other bars and restaurants on the Shore in Edinburgh. The first time I went there for a drink was in the late 90s when a friend of mine was touring Scotland taking pictures for a French travel magazine. She was staying there and was most impressed with the rooms. That night we went back to visit old haunts and ate at Blue, which is now gone. My friend is still a photographer but she’s now based in Bangkok, on the other side of the world. Things change. Malmaison, thankfully, still stands. Last week, I went there and took the door to the brasserie instead of the door to the bar. It was the start of a delightful evening As well as a hotel and a...read mor...

"new kapitel has caught my attention after I was on top ten on trip advisor only months after the opening in the oktober last year. that and the fact that it is open for my early january birthday, made it the perfect place to celebrate to become a little older. I was with the man and his family. the man is quite used to my taste and good to the kind of kitchen that would appeal to me for a special occasion; his family not so much and I was filled with shame as his mother scornful went through the menu trying to find something she would enjoy. I've eaten with the family of the man, and I know they enjoy eating, so I think it's a failure of the menu that it is not accessible. the benming always blooming and garnish can appeal to some, but for others it is overcomplicated and it is necessary to find a balance between the two. we start with the starters and I go for venison sour wort pithvier. the venison was underheated and incredibly dry, to the happiness the sourded a little moisturizing and so saved the whole dish, but the aromen were quite not clear, except the garnitur of plastered mushrooms I thoroughly enjoyed. for the largest part we chose a fish dish for our main,- sea trout, smoked muddles, petersilien and coast herbs. where the starter fell, the main recording is getting back. the dish is rich and creamy, and each element adds the complexity of the taste as a whole, without disturbing. the concept is now an old one, and it would be deceptive if it had not worked, as it would essentially pay with this place. I enjoyed my meal in new chapter, although I do not agree with it is stellar status under the hierarchy of edinburgh eateries. it is top ten position is just a flash in the pan of hot popularity, and in time it will be plated in the upper half of the middle stage where it belongs. and that is where it belongs, the dishes can be plated with a michelin star in understood, and the venue and the supporting media has the clean lines and empty slate look of fine but eat the team has a long gone to go if that is their real aim. at the end, although it was a beautiful meal, and cheap (at the moment I would not be surprised to see their prices slowly rise) and the man’s mother found something they enjoyed and that is the most important."
