a small but fine restaurant. very friendly staff. the food is served quickly and hot. it actually tastes like in Thai - aromatic, sharp, crisp, fresh. simply delicious. and the price-performance ratio is great.

This is one of those local places that serve amazing, and first and foremost real spicy Thai food. The girl serving food always appears a bit lost in space, but the green papaya salad and the tom kha gai and the fried glass noodle...are worth it. The decor is beautifully done, very authentic for a neighbourhood Thai. This restaurant is always busy, so make sure you book a table!

The place was rather empty and I wouldn't have entered, if my hotel receptionist had not mentioned this restaurant. (Although she also mentioned an all-you-can-eat restaurant nearby.. we wanted to eat 8 friends at mekong, but due to a misunderstanding we had reserved only for 6 people and although 16 places were still free and not reserved, the chef was totally inflexible and just too cheeky. he would have had to turn and push together only two tables, but that was seemingly too much. I have never experienced such an undamaged behavior in a restaurant. once and never again, even if it seems good to eat. there are plenty of other good restaurants!

I wanted to go out with a friend a nice evening and wanted to invite her to the crooked.It should be a surprise.I have to say that I was a guest at Mekong.The ambiente, the waitress, the draining, that was all wonderful as ever.Now a very hard disappointment: at 22:05am the waiter came to ask me I said he had opening hours on Saturdays until 23 o'clock and that I find the way and wise very unbeautiful how the customers are bunksed out.We have simply shared the bill for well-fertilized without asking us.I have been disproportionately disappointed about the way you spoke to me...to times I have actually been there more often.I have been busy myself for many years in traffic as well as I know Ver carta

I was in Frankfurt about days ago, and Thai restaurants were all over the place. Essen, by contrast, hasn't discovered Thai. Mekong is Essen's only true Thai restaurant, even though the cook, according to the nice English-speaking German owner, is Laotian! Mekong has all...the standard dishes, nothing really out of the ordinary. I had simple vegie spring rolls which were quite good, and then some good but not exceptional green curry chicken which the English-speaking waitress assured me would be Asian spicy but it wasn't. It was spicy for Germans, maybe a bit more than they're used to. Anyhow, I enjoyed my meal. Nice, old-fashioned room, with space between tables. I got there early and wasn'...
