"I would give this restaurant 5 stars for their amazing food, but unfortunately we have had issues two out of the times that we've ordered from here. The first time, we ordered a halloumi wrap and they delivered a chicken one instead, which was a big mistake considering my girlfriend is vegetarian. The second time, they forgot one of the meal boxes that was supposed to be my dinner. Despite trying to call them for 40 minutes afterwards to rectify the mistake and not getting any answer, I'm afraid I can't give them 5 stars."

"For dessert, we chose the cheese board, and I have to say, I regret not taking a photo of it. At £15, it was a letdown for the cost. It included six artisan breads or crackers, some grapes, chutney, and four very small slices of various artisan cheeses. My wife, who is pregnant, opted for a non-alcoholic cocktail that wasn’t on the drink menu but was remembered by the staff, and that cost £8.50. Despite its price, it was quite nice. A note to management: I strongly disagree with the discretionary 10% service charge added to an already pricey meal. I feel reluctant to remove it from the bill because it's the staff who have to mention that it’s included, but it's not their decision for it to be there in the first place. This practice seems to be becoming more common, and while I'm perfectly fine with tipping for exceptional food and service, when neither was notably good, why should I be charged an automatic service fee? It just feels wrong. Once again, I don’t mind paying higher prices and rewarding excellent service and food with a tip, but we didn’t experience either here, regardless of how the menu may appear. Unfortunately, I won’t be recommending or returning anytime soon. On a positive note, the surroundings were lovely and the ambiance was great."

"Now serving food! New management has brought this pub back to life at last! I had salt and pepper chicken sizzler (set smoke alarm off lol which was delicious! Only thing I wasn't keen on was oven chips(which keeps the prices down but I would pay more for home cooked chips or skin in fries. Usual pub type menu most dishes a bargain at £7.95. I like real ales and they had 3 on tap(Wainwright's, Doombar and Black sheep. I had black sheep and it was a decent pint and just over £3 a pint. I would definitely now recommend this place, the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere has definitely improved, also becoming more popular again. Will definitely be going again!"

"A few miles inland from the busy seafront at Blackpool is the delightful village of Elswick.where The Boot and Shoe pub/restaurant is located. Originally in the last century it was a farmhouse, then expanded and became an ice cream factory and also a small village pub. But once the ice cream production ended the pub was extended and now is an excellent restaurant as well. Managed by Sian and Alan Smith, it provides a comprehensive menu throughout the week with Sunday roast specials. Sian an Alan are excellent hosts, matching the superb food at reasonably-prices. The character of part of the original farmhouse building remains with a well in the corner. Sian, who started her career at the age of 15 in an Indian restaurant, now has many years of experience as a chef, having worked in a variety of top class restaurants throughout Lancashire. You will not be disappointed!"

"We have just left the Ship after yet another disappointing visit!! The service is absolutely fine, very friendly, but unfortunately the food we received was anything but! Starters were ok but what can go wrong with garlic bread, and tomato soup. If you like butter with your bread when having soup, bring your own because you don’t get any! I had the tikka masala which was obviously a cheap supermarket curry at the very best and the naan bread was freezing cold! My wife had scampi which was definitely just frozen scampi and the meal portion size was appalling! We only live around the corner from the Ship and often wonder why we don’t make life easier for ourselves and walk round for our tea more often. Tonight is the reason, we could have gone to Iceland and made a better tea for ourselves for less than a quarter of the price we were charged! We are not looking for Michelin star food but, the food we ordered tonight was just basic food. Do yourselves a favour and don’t bother eating here, cook it at home or go elsewhere, either way you’ll have a far better tea!!!"
