"The Alpenrose comes highly recommended on the TripAdvisor site. And so I went there for a dinner. Perhaps it was an off night, I don't know. I ordered a lake fish dinner and a bottle of white wine from Spain. The fish (perch I think) was pretty awful, perhaps because it was neither fresh nor well-prepared. To make matters worse, the dinner was quite expensive. As for the wine, well, it was perfectly awful. Spain is not noted for its white wines, but this wine was from a region with a rising reputation for good wine. As the cost of the wine was close to $75, I assumed it was more than worth a try. Big mistake. Okay, the customer assumes some responsibility for selecting a particular wine. Still, if a reputable restaurant places the wine on its menu--with an expensive price that conveys a degree of quality, and the wine is just bottom of the barrel, then you are left with a feeling of being exploited. I left the restaurant with 115 fewer dollars than when I entered, and wished that I had just stayed home (or in my hotel room, to be exact)."

"Og, die Sie jemals geschickt haben, um in einem ungestörten, schönen, schönen Tal zu wandern, verpassen Sie nicht das Fextal. Kein Auto (außer dem Personal) ist erlaubt und es hat alles, einen Fluss, der von den Gletschern kommt, saftig grüne Hügelseiten, Kühe mit Glocken und wunderbare Wanderungen!Das Hotel Fex selbst ist ein altes Holzgebäude und bietet Zimmer mit spektakulärer Aussicht. Die Mahlzeiten sind solide und schmackhaft und kompensieren sowohl anstrengende als auch leichte Wanderungen. Das Personal ist freundlich und bietet hervorragende Vorschläge für Wanderungen und Touren. Wir haben es genossen!"

"Die Fahrt nach Maloja war der Besuch in jedem Fall Wert. Reservierung für den gleichen Tag möglich , freundlicher Empfang, freundliche Bedienung entspannte Atmosphäre und Top Qualität, wie man es in der Kombination in Sankt Moritz zur High Season kaum findet. Empfehlung Filet vom Lavastein."

"We stopped for a snack stop on our journey. We know the prices of the Engadine well but we leave it up to you to judge how much we spent for what we consumed: 3 normal slices of strudel with 3 tablespoons of vanilla sauce 12.50 francs per slice 1 slice of Linz 6.50 francs 2 cans of Coca-Cola 4.80 francs each. 2 herbal teas 4.80 francs each. Total 63.20 francs at the exchange rate in euros 70.00 euros We didn 't see the prices of the cakes because they weren 't written on the menu. Maybe we would have spent less by having lunch and reading the list? If you ask if you can pay in euros, you expect the exchange rate and perhaps you round up to avoid the coins, but the head waiter who is evidently not Swiss rounded up too much, in fact his colleague, as I expected, was giving me the rest in francs, but he stopped him. Average desserts, good but incorrect service at the time of change, welcoming environment with a view of the lake if you are on the veranda or outside, otherwise a normal place. "Like in so many Swiss restaurants the kitchen just shuts down at 9.30 even if you are five people eating good food, so if you want a dessert, like a bunch of unionised Frenchies, the **** cooks just clear off. Now, some items on the menu are excellent, I RECOMMEND THE LOCAL SPECIALITIES, THE SOUP AND CAMPUNS. I had a delightful deer steak with mushrooms and poached pear after two portions of campuns. I ordered a second for everyone to taste. Hard to describe the campuns, a sort of ball made with dried meat, with a leaf folded round in a delicious sauce (try finding exactly what on STUPID AMERICAN BIASED GOOGLE). Our son had excellent lamb chops on a bed of a very good risotto. The chef, we were told, is Italian, so the food has heart and some skill. My delicious deer fillet was very slightly overdone, but still excellent. My wife 's green salad was vastly overpriced as was my son in law 's trout, which was over cooked. He also started with a very good soup a l 'orge- a local speciality, wheat soup. The waiters were very agreeable, i left a good tip fir the Multilingual Indian waiter, a very charming man. I think they were somewhat embarrassed when we ordered desserts after 9.30 to tell us the kitchen was closed!!!! They managed nevertheless to get hold of a portion of a very good nut cream dessert for my wife and daughter, my son had ice cream, but the nutcake I tried that I was assured home made was very average. OVERALL A BIT DISAPPOINTING AND APPROPRIATELY JUST GOOD BUT YOU SEE NO EXCELLENT REVIEWS. Rather a pity and a big 'could do better '!"
