"Went with friends to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we arrived and ordered some drinks and advised a young lady that we were booked in for 7.30and a table of four , she couldn’t find a booking and spoke with another lady behind the bar and she said that we could be fitted in. No apologies Our friends arrived and I went to the bar and ordered there there drinks , one of them was a pint of beer that was warm , not wanting to complain I returned to the bar and asked a young man for some ice he obliged. No offer to change but my friend was happy to use the ice . We ordered our food and this took some time to arrive and I actually noticed people who arrived after us getting there food first , but perhaps because they were a table of two . Food arrived and we were asked if we needed anything else and two of us asked for ketchup. I’ve got to say at this point the food was delicious and I’ve not any issues whatsoever with the food. So we were only giving x2 napkins and then a gentleman who we later found out to be the manager asked how was the food “all good thanks “ and we asked him for some more napkins he brought them over and one of the party asked for ketchup as it had still not arrived, his response was “ why didn’t you say that before as it would have save another journey “ not really the response we were expecting considering we had requested it previously., Then when we received the ketchup I’d eaten half of my meal thankfully I didn’t want any as we we received a tiny amount probably a teaspoon certainly not enough for two people. My friend went to get some more drinks and was ignored by the bar staff and when he was finally attended to the young lady was more interested in talking to her colleague while pouring the drinks. I felt quite embarrassed as I’d suggested going to the Nags head and our friends were disappointed with the service so we decided that we would speak to the manager and give them the opportunity to discuss our disappointments , we told him of our concerns and he apologised for his comments regarding the other journey to our table however one of the young ladies behind the bar decided to step in and her comment is the main reason for my complaint is “if your not happy don’t come back “ I have worked in retail and hospitality for over 40 years and I saddened by this situation and disappointed that I feel the need to complain about a local restaurant ."

Lovely pub and food, BUT we have 2 dogs and can no longer visit with them as they only allow 1 dog per table??? We will have to go elsewhere..shame.

Just eaten the most delicious home made chicken and mushroom pie EVER! Generous, creamy, loads of chips, perfectly cooked. Brilliant friendly service. My sister had the House burger which was gorgeous. We will be back.

Lovely pub, big beer garden, dog friendly and lovely staff. Only pale ales for those who prefer darker ales but that said, Try the Nags Head ale, lovely and refreshing. Worth a visit, big car park but situated alongside a very busy main road.

This place doesn’t look much from the outside, but on the inside it’s comfortable, really friendly staff and the quality of food exceptional. We had the Sunday roast, home cooked food at its best. Good portion of veg to go with it. Couldn’t fault it.

Excellent! Fabulous pub with very welcoming owner and tasty food. Promptly served with a drink before order taken for meal that was soon brought to the table piping hot and beautifully presented. Visited twice during the week whilst we were staying nearby and would most definitely recommend to other customers.

Kids at grandparents so decided to go for a nice meal somewhere. Nags was recommended and I’m glad it was. Whilst the food is not ‘cheap’, the standard of beer, restaurant and food made it worth the cost. Both meals were piping hot, generous portions and very tasty, wouldn’t hesitate to go again. The wait was probably about 30mins but that didn’t bother us as it was clearly evident we’d waited for freshly cooked food. Excellent service too from the young waiting on staff.

Used to love this place but it needs some serious improvement. Beer was warm and did not taste as it should. Food portion sizes, and general quality, are shocking for the prices. I know eating out is expensive now but compared to other local eateries we were very disappointed. There was no warm welcome, staff seemed as if they didn't want to be there. Tables outside were not all on the level and some were in a very sorry state. It's such a shame as it's such a lovely pub, but come on! Make an effort please!

When my wife and I arrived with our 2 dogs at an allegedly dog friendly pub, we were met at the entrance by the landlady to be told you can 't come in as it was only, One dog per table. We said that we would sit at separate tables with a dog each. The landy 's immediate response was, We don 't have any single tables. However, there were plenty of empty available tables. We had travelled 20 miles, having visited with our two dogs on other occasions when they were welcomed and behaved in an exemplary manner. We were not impressed.

Really disappointed at our visit. Rang and booked a table for 4 adults and 2 dogs. After ordering and waiting probably half an hour at least we chased our food and were told it was just being plated up. This was simply not true as food then came 20 minutes later. Outrageously the young waitress served three meals and then confronted us about the one dog per table policy!! Why take our booking then when I was very clear about booking being for 4 adults and 2 dogs. The food was lovely and a great choice on the menu. However the overall experience was ruined by the waitress, slow service and lie. They did knock off the cost of a round of drinks but it was clear we would not be able to bring our...

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity.
