"I passed by this lovely corner restaurant last week and thought, “That looks interesting! Let’s give it a try.” I found out they serve folded pizzas (what we call calzones) with enticing ingredients. Since it had been a long time since I'd had pizza, I was curious about what a ristobar is, so I decided to explore further. A week later, I reserved a table; my husband chose the folded pizza (the Vesuvio from the menu), while I intended to order a marinara pizza with added artichokes. However, I hadn't anticipated the specials! Where else in Bath—or perhaps even in the Southwest—can you find courgette flowers stuffed with ham and melted mozzarella, all enveloped in a perfectly crispy batter and served on a rich homemade tomato sauce? If that doesn't whet your appetite, there were four other appetizers on the specials list that were hard to pass up. Given the quality of the cooking, I’m definitely eyeing the arancini for my next visit. I'm usually wary of arancini, as they can easily be disappointing if not done just right. Then there were the pastas, which I initially overlooked on the menu since pizza is their specialty. However, the specials list amazed me once more with options like ravioli stuffed with seabass and crabmeat in a homemade tomato sauce, another filled with ham and cime di rapa (turnip greens), and one with four cheeses in a Gorgonzola sauce (which is technically five!). My husband was nearly tempted to ditch his calzone for the cheesy pasta, being a Gorgonzola lover. The food was outstanding. I opted for the ravioli with ham and greens, which was expertly crafted with delicate pasta and wonderfully fresh flavors. The calzone had a thin, crispy crust and an incredibly addictive filling, especially with the superb anchovies my husband chose to add. To finish our meal, we enjoyed a delightful affogato that was anything but standard—it was rich with cream and amaretto. We were genuinely impressed by the exceptional cooking from a skilled Italian chef who clearly knows his craft. The service was charming, friendly, and attentive. The bill even came with Baci chocolates, with no service charge added. They also offer gluten-free pizza bases, so our gluten-intolerant friends can enjoy a meal here too. I urge everyone to visit Napulé, which has been around for about a year and truly deserves to be busier. On a Wednesday night, it was disheartening to see only one other table occupied. Prices are reasonable for the quality, especially considering they use fior di latte, which is a lovely touch. It was perfect! Grazie mille!
