"Heard mixed reports about this restaurant, but as a couple who enjoy eating out for no good reason, and seeking new culinary experiences from time to time, we decided to give Nic's a go, as it is local for us. First impressions are so often misguided, so the somewhat time warped decor was not going to turn us away as we were greeted in a friendly manner by Nicola, given the choice of where to sit, offered a drink before studying the menu, plus specials of the day. Our choices were prepared and presented with politeness and due attention to any extras we may wish to have, sauces, water jug, was the wine to our liking, all of which are points many other eating establishments either neglect to do, or are so invasive in their ott attention. The lamb served as my main course was absolutely delicious, my partner's steak rated well too, fresh vegetables served in side dishes and not cooked to death. Nic's home cooked chips scored high too. Yummy cheesecake dessert, cheese board and coffee completed our meal most satisfactorily with a bill which didn't make us gasp! If you want chic or a posey designer plated menu with fussy finesse, then not the place for you, but seeking a good value freshly and well cooked 3 course dinner plus a friendly welcome where it seemed that nothing was too much trouble, then give this a try, but soak up what the kitchen has to offer, rather than the surroundings. We shall return to Nic's Restaurant to sample some more at a later date."

Very pleasant lunch. Good choice. Reasonable price. Photo is salmon with 5 spice rub: moist and delicious. My friends had perfectly cooked omelettes.

Re-visited Nic's Restaurant after long absence due to health reasons. The quality of food has not changed and is still utterly fabulous. Will be going back again and again!! Highly recommended.

Paint peeling off the walls, slow service, below average food, dirty glasses, just a few remarks about our experience here. Such a shame as we continue our hunt for somewhere nice to eat on Sheppy. Ver carta

Small, intimate, old fashioned restaurant. Food plain but well prepared and served very politely! An unusual restaurant, but worth seeking out as there are few nice little restaurants on the Island.. Not expensive.

Had a lovely meal at Nic's restaurant with a large group of friends we filled the place !!. The food was delicious, freshly cooked to order and very tasty. I will agree with the other posts on here that the décor needs a proper update and some TLC, but I go to a restaurant for a good meal not to look at the wallpaper. Nics restaurant is quirky, old fashioned and dated but you cannot complain about the quality of the food, the friendliness of Nic her staff and the prices !!

If you want a relaxing evening out eating real food that isn't delivered frozen and then chucked into an oven then you could do a lot worse than to visit this little oasis situated in a terrace of shops and takeaways in Queenborough.Where else could a couple enjoy delicious home made soup, a duck dish, steak all with home prepared veg, and gorgeous home prepared desserts, and come away with a bill for a little over £50. Oh I forgot the beer, glass of wine and liquer coffee. The food here is prepared with care and I doubt you'll be better looked after anywhere. Yes service can be a little surreal at busy times, but these are genuine people who care about their customers and provide good food... Ver carta

Nic 's is a very unassuming little place next to a small row of shops in queenborough and Im sure it is greatly under used. I had heard great things about this place and for years I had wanted to try it out. It is a very small family run place with around 20ish covers, it is like walking in to your aunties living room. I have now had the great pleasure of visiting this establishment twice, both time in large parties around Christmas time and all food had been pre-ordered. The food has always been above average, beautifully cooked with lovely fresh ingredients, bang on and rather unusual for poor old Sheppey which seems to have missed out on the British food revolution. I don 't want to say a...

We have visited this restaurant on two occasions, once in 2012 and once recently. On our first visit last year we had the a la ca rte evening menu, everything was beautifully cooked from scallops to start, mains of bass fillets, and duck.We returned last Friday lunchtime for Nicola's latest initiative a two course lunch for O.A.P's at the great price of £5. You get a choice of two starters, two mains, and deserts. You are able to mix and match either a starter and main or main and desert, (desert is extra if having a starter and main but still great value. On the day we visited with two friends we sampled the soup, roast chicken, shepherd's pie, and apple crumble, all perfectly cooked. On the...

"Having been to the Phoenix several times and I believe, this to be my second average review of the food and service, you 'd think they would have taken heed, but clearly not. Firstly, like most top end restaurants in London, they are reserving the right to charge for no shows £20 per head). But, what they are also doing, which is very unfair, is charging you for cancellations within 24 hours of the booking at £10 per head. If one or more of our friends had fallen ill over night it 's the flu season at the moment), they would have been were forced to go for an expensive average Sunday lunch, whilst spreading their germs to the other diners. It also poses the question, what would some do if you book a table less than 24 hours like we did) and then decide to cancel? The excuse that orders for food have already been placed doesn 't really hold water. The Sunday menu forces you to order a minimum of 2 courses at £34 per head. Some of the top London restaurants are charging less for far more opulent Sunday roasts e.g. the Jugged Hare at the Barbican). The Sunday lunch served was simply very average and not value for money. Finally, why are the desserts here, always consistently so bad? I ordered a baked cheesecake and got cream squirted on a piece of cake. When I asked what I had been served, I was told it was chef 's interpretation of a cheesecake. The menu clearly stated baked cheesecake. Not even in my wildest dreams can you interpret a baked cheesecake as a piece of cake with creamed squirted on it! This was promptly returned and replaced with a vile chocolate tart, with pastry so hard I couldn 't cut into it without the fear of smashing the plate it was served on. The chocolate was over salted and the chantilly cream served with it unsweetened. Save your money, go elsewhere."
