"Cozy restaurant with freshly prepared dishes. We visited for three consecutive days and enjoyed a different fantastic menu each day. The dishes are finely seasoned and beautifully presented. From the moment you enter Number 52, the promise of freshness is clear. They pride themselves on serving exceptionally fresh fish, and the careful attention to quality stands out. The expertly sliced tuna sashimi melts in your mouth, while the robust flavors of the prawns, salmon, and langoustine are cooked to perfection. Their garlic butter adds an aromatic charm that enhances each dish without being overwhelming. If you're looking for a dining experience where spices and ingredients come together in a delightful symphony of flavors, this restaurant is a must-visit. Every bite showcases their commitment to quality and culinary skill. Highly recommended!"

I am a vegetarian which is tricky in a seafood place they offered 2 options when we booked . On seating the very helpful waiter suggested the chef could do a arancini off the cuff the most delicious I have ever tasted miles better than Jamie Oliver great find Vegetarian options: They will make to your requirements on the day fantastic ! Service: Dine in

Best fish I’ve ever had. Not quite enough mushy peas but I asked for a few more but arrived a tad too later than expected. I would definitely eat here again. The tartare sauce was really good too and this beetroot salad sides was delicious but I couldn’t eat it again because my teeth are not the greatest but that’s a whole other story Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

Fantastic menu and great selection especially sea food and generous portions. Plenty of Gluten Free options too. The Crayfish cocktail was a big hit and even inspired some Salt Bae impersonation. Service was great and the chef was personable too, only downside was the need for one of the waitresses to sit on the floor deconstruct several tables while we where eating. Not her fault, she was obviously directed to do so but did take the edge of the atmosphere. Overall well worth a visit. Dietary restrictions: Gluten Free options well catered for. Ver carta

I had a disappointing and awkward experience at No. 42. Two friends and I were visiting Campbeltown and decided to have dinner there on a Friday night. Two of us ordered the duck, but it was served so rare it was practically inedible—we couldn’t even cut through it. The vegetables were fine, and the fish and chips were delightful. For dessert, we tried the “When Life Throws You Lemons” option, which consisted of four mini sweets. Only one of them contained lemon—a sorbet—while the others looked appealing but tasted quite bland. The waitress was lovely and offered an apology, but she seemed stressed and the restaurant appeared to be understaffed for the number of guests.

A gem of Cambeltown and highly recommend. Staff are absolutely lovely, welcoming and friendly. Everyone gets bread butter to start with, which, is.phenomonal! They make it themselves and I wish I could buy it. Plenty of gluten free options. Fish curry was the star of the show for me. Surf Turf was apparently fantastic (not gluten free) Drinks were great! Only let down was the cullen skink, due to one small bit of haddock it tasted like a creamy potato soup. Which was nice but for a fish restaurant I expected more. Restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and there is plenty of parking. Really glad the lovely woman in the RNLI shop recommended it! Dietary restrictions: Plenty of turn free options

"On our last day here, killing time before the ferry, decided to try luncheon here. No expectations either way. And we were TOTALLY wowed it was just excellent. Trying not to put too many superlatives in this review, but it was really, really ace. We had a lovely table by the window overlooking the harbour where you could see dog walkers, children in wellies, crabbing, and little boats coming and going. Classic Islay. Then I have to mention the food. Jeez, it was top notch, and huuuuuuuge portions. I don’t think we’ve ever had four such consistently generous and fulfilling portions before. We had the scallops (massive, juicy, plentiful , the Crofter’s Platter, which was cheeses, hams, sausage rolls, salad, bread, chutneys; the soup massive bowl, loadsa crispy sourdough bread, and the fish and chips which was so big it draped over the plate! All delicious. Our guy, Andrew, was superb, so attentive and smiley and always bringing us more things, spoons, drinks, more bread, spoons, he was great. And we had a lovely chat with the very friendly and nice proprietor. She was wonderful. Really seemed to care about the place and her team. She told us all about the hotel and stuff it was really cool. We will most certainly come back here next time. You can’t necessarily get the best table every time, but we won’t mind if we don’t! : Oh, also, lovely clean loos!"

"We booked this restaurant after reading the reviews while touring Scotland what a disappointment. When we arrived we were shown to a table straight behind the door and as it kept opening and shutting it blew a massive amount of cold air in. As both parents and staff allowed 2 young children to go in and out every few minutes it got a bit much. We were given the menu and told specials were on the board. No description or recommendation. Also they did not say the board also goes over the top of the fish on didplay. I had crab claws to start the mayonnaise was lovely and what I could get out of the claws was nice but I was given no instruments to get into the claws and they were not broken enough for them to just pull out. I ordered the turbut for main as did my husband it was a small fillet with the skin correctly removed but it was loaded with garlic butter sauce you couldn't taste the fish for the garlic. Also which was worse I don't know what they did to the top of it but it was yellow and like thin rubber. We had to peel it off it was not good. I didn't complain at the time because I am not used to having a fillet of turbut. When I have had it before my husband and I have shared a turbut presented whole at the table. I have only written this today after speaking to some friends who said i should put something on because there had to be something wrong for the top of the fish to be yellow and leathery. You might guess but I won't be going back."
