"After a minute wait to find out what the soup of the day was I made my first mistake of the evening by ordering it. It was delivered to the table after minutes with a skin on. It was accompanied by stale bread and rock hard butter. I had a few mouthfuls of the lumpy grey coloured skin topped liquid and decided to pass, the lukewarm soup it was removed from the table and the main was delivered in the same movement, buttermilk chicken burger which was a dry as the Sahara. The smoked pancetta tasted like an ashtray, have I mentioned how dry it was? After a little of the dry chicken I'd had enough and decided to go to McDonald's instead but not before the last insult was delivered I had to queue for minutes to pay as only one lady was serving behind the bar. I paid and left never to return to this dreadful establishment. To explain my anger this meal was paid for by my employer but it was so bad I feel I have to complain. AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID"

I haven't been to this restaurant in a long time and I can't understand why, the food is delicious. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed in a beautifully renovated mill.

I had a wonderful dinner with friends at this restaurant. The service from the waitstaff was excellent. The menu was a bit limited, but that's to be expected right now. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience. It was convenient to be able to park my car without any fees or issues. Kudos to the staff for a job well done.

Waited at an empty bar to be served by a surly, rude man with a southern accent (presumably the manager) before being shown to a table. Our drinks were banged down on the bar and not one pleasantry passed his lips. The waitress however was very amenable and attentive. Sadly one of our meals had to be returned as the gammon was undercooked and there was a minute wait for a replacement and he didn't seem interested. The setting is lovely but sadly we will not be returning as our experience was not an enjoyable one. Anon restaurant reviewer

We had a meal on Wednesday this week, the staff were very friendly, said hello as you walked in and made you feel very welcome. Potatoes mashed properly and not the smash mash you usually get in pubs.We were in a corner out of the way, our choice on table, but the servers did not forget about us and come to check everything was ok and did not leave the plates on the table for long after we had finished. The food was excellent and we would like to thank both the servers especially bindi, both friendly, courteous and professional. The sticky toffee pudding to die for, we will definitely return. Also a big thank you to the chef and kitchen staff, best meal out for quite a while

"Really nice pub would return if i lived in the area. Visited for a beer and some food with wife and infant daughter, large carpark, is located at the top of the hill, staff and the locals were very welcoming. Nice selection of ales lagers and spirits. Restaurant section looked to be closed, but the lounge was bright and modern finish. Pub menu was served as per the website but they had a nice choice of specials. Had the special starter peri peri chicken samosa with pickled molis, perfect balance of curried samosa, sharp pickled mooli and spicey peri, came with an interesting almost experimental bread and charcoal garlic butter, mmm yummy main was a wholesome hearty gaint yorkshire brimmed with onion gravey and sausages dressed with a herby oil and fries on the side, was perfectly portioned for a big fella like me, may be too much for some, but a brilliant meal. Finished off with a white chocolate raspberry blondie, with a tart raspberry coolis and custard. Wife had the burger was thick and tasty, nicely seasoned. Daughter had a big portion of fish fingers and chips. Table services was efficient and friendly. Locals were nice to talk to aswell. We all left happy and full, would recommend. Parking: Big lot next to the pub would fit about 12 designated drivers Kid-friendliness: Had kids chair available, changing facilities in the disabled, large selection on the kids menu. Friendly staff, welcomed kids as well as adult. "Me and my wife popped in for a drink after shopping and realised that Millers had recently been taken over. You can tell the new owners have put some money into the decor and even had a live singer on which was a nice change from before. We had a look at the menu which was small compared to the previous but sounded nice. Unfortunately, from there is where the evening turned sour. I went to the bar to order some food and was left standing waiting to be served for around 10 minutes with staff just ignoring me. I would like to mention I was the only person stood at the bar and three members of staff were there but no acknowledgement. Not even we will just be a minute which I felt was rude. I do understand that they did have large Christmas parties in and most likely were understaffed but still just that they would be a minute would of been nice alternatively hire more staff for busy days before taking bookings. We were told it would be a 30 minute wait for food, which was understandable. It was actually 60 minutes, and when the food arrived, we had to help ourself to napkins and cutlery as we were left. The burger was nice, but the Chicken kebab was cold, and the flatbread was raw, not just a little but really raw. We sent the flatbread back and waited another 5 minutes for a fresh flatbread which again came to the table raw in the middle. The menu also stated Tzatziki but came with Hummus which wasn't pleasant to eat. Overall it was disappointing, I think they need to start thinking of hiring more staff on busy days of the week especially with Christmas around the corner. We both said we won't be returning again for food which is a shame since Millers has always been known for their great customer service and good food."

"Thankfully we only went for dinner, or at least we tried. It would seem that the Stump Cross has gone down hill since I last ate there in 2016-ish. The interior now looks very tired, there is tape sticking down carpets, it feels very sparse. All in all, it feels like a down-market Toby Carver but more expensive (and you don’t get any food, more to follow on that)! We went for a Sunday roast however it was just a bog-standard carvery. Not to worry we thought, the menu online seems to imply quite “posh” food. On the contrary, the Sunday offering is variations of carvery meats with vegetables, and a small selection of other less impressive dishes. Ultimately, we both decided on the Yorkshire pudding wrap, containing beef and gravy, with some roast potatoes on the side. I can’t tell you what it was like, because we waiting almost an hour and no food arrived; we had asked several times and were repeatedly told it was coming out in five minutes In the end, we rang another restaurant to ensure availability, and told the waitress to cancel the order and left. I don’t like leaving negative reviews, but my question is, how can it take almost an hour to put some already cooked meat, in a (most likely) already prepared/cooked Yorkshire pudding and put that on a plate of already cooked potatoes the pub was serving a carvery! The nice lady at the bar was sympathetic and waved the cost for the coffee and coke we’d had. Some sort of service recovery there at least? We definitely will not be returning or recommending.
