"We visited on a cold Thursday evening and were warmly welcomed by both the waiter and the owner. We both ordered tagliatelle (mine with salmon and my husband's the Luigis special). They were served before we'd even had time to finish a bread roll each and were tasty and hot. We each had a very reasonably priced and palatable glass of House White Wine. My husband had the home-made Tiramisu and I chose the Limoncello dessert; both were lovely. Complimentary glasses of Sambucco were served with the very reasonable bill."

"We came here for an evening meal and having not been for sometime we realised it was pre covid since we last came so decided it was time to come back we were so glad we did. The surrounding are as always warm welcoming, our table was ready for us and although we were quite early we had a drink first we’re given some menus and told we could take our seats at our leisure by the wonderful waitress whose name I sadly did not get but was friendly gave great natural service. We chose for starters between us the Pigeon Breast with black pudding celeriac purée and the Crevettes with garlic Alioli. Both good sized portions and cooked perfectly especially the pigeon breast. For mains we opted for slow cooked shin beef with creamy mash, veg a Jus and the Gray ox burger which came with a very generous portion of fries, salad homemade onion rings. Both extremely filling the beef melted in the mouth. We were so full we simply could not fit in a dessert maybe next time. It was nice to be back and see that nothing had changed in the standards quality of food. We certainly won’t leave it as long next time to come back."

"I asked the Sun Inn to provide a buffet and it was the best buffet I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying in the UK. Before I booked my event, I ate lunch here and it was delicious (peppercorn chicken). I have since been back fro my 3rd time and enjoyed a gourmet burger and a few beers while speaking to locals on the outside terrace. This is a fantastic gastropub. Well worth the visit. Lance and his staff make everyone feel very welcome."

"Thankfully we only went for dinner, or at least we tried. It would seem that the Stump Cross has gone down hill since I last ate there in 2016-ish. The interior now looks very tired, there is tape sticking down carpets, it feels very sparse. All in all, it feels like a down-market Toby Carver but more expensive (and you don’t get any food, more to follow on that)! We went for a Sunday roast however it was just a bog-standard carvery. Not to worry we thought, the menu online seems to imply quite “posh” food. On the contrary, the Sunday offering is variations of carvery meats with vegetables, and a small selection of other less impressive dishes. Ultimately, we both decided on the Yorkshire pudding wrap, containing beef and gravy, with some roast potatoes on the side. I can’t tell you what it was like, because we waiting almost an hour and no food arrived; we had asked several times and were repeatedly told it was coming out in five minutes In the end, we rang another restaurant to ensure availability, and told the waitress to cancel the order and left. I don’t like leaving negative reviews, but my question is, how can it take almost an hour to put some already cooked meat, in a (most likely) already prepared/cooked Yorkshire pudding and put that on a plate of already cooked potatoes the pub was serving a carvery! The nice lady at the bar was sympathetic and waved the cost for the coffee and coke we’d had. Some sort of service recovery there at least? We definitely will not be returning or recommending. "amazing time in the casa luli I visited from Canada and a few of us went to dinner. my tante and oncle are regularly at this place and I can see why. it had a warm atmosphere, wonderful personal and amazing eating. great value with generous portions. even the bathroom was nice I would recommend it definitiw."
