"Enchanting Otto's. Otto's is a very special bijou French bistro in a rather grey road (Grays Inn rd) in London. The exterior has a beguiling front and the interior is charming/ kitsch and ever so slightly reminiscent of Fawlty Towers (in a good way). One of the main draws here is the Canard a la Presse', which is basically a duck flown over from France, gallantly presented to the table raw, then sizzled in front of you. This is followed by an exuberant display of the workings of a shiny silver presse crushing the carcass and good stuff to produce tasty duck juices. The end result is a very attractive plate of duck with rich ducky jus. Unfortunately i tried to preorder this 2 weeks...read more"

ottolenghi’s braided venue concept is one of the food with good food and muthis taste. We will eat ogle, salad menu and olive oil with Turkish kitchen. prices are also reasonable.

A wonderful find, and worth the (albeit a little under the radar) raving. You wouldn’t want too many people to find out about it – I’ve only been singing its praises to people I really like. And I’m even going back again next week.

lobster. they were for the pressed duck, but they had none. we got the opportunity to get lobster to whom we agreed. too much will never eat again lobster. good wine list. otto himself is a bit full, and he undermined his headwait that was unpleasant for all. super, but very expensive. Ver carta

Hidden french gem close to Chancery Lane and Kings Cross. From the street one would probably pass by since it is unimposing from the outside but once entered it has a very different feel. The owner is German but the restaurant is French and it does a great job highlighting that. Went there last night and everyone in our group was very impressed with the quality of the food. The service was outstanding as well. And the prices did not reflect that. We will be back soon, highly recommended.

Ottos has been trading since late 2011 in an unfashionable location not far from Chancery Lane. It shares its name with a fictional restaurant in the episode of Frasier The Innkeepers in which the Crane brothers buy an old-fashioned restaurant that has folded and try and relaunch it. The real version has a German owner (Otto) but serves traditional French food. The ground floor dining room, decorated with some old French film posters, seats around 25, with a further dining room of a similar size downstairs.

ottos is one of these restaurants that do not follow serious trends. the eating is as dated as the decoration, but the whole, from the handshake they get as they go in the door to the perfectly garden classified, she makes herself in love with the place. as we for the preordered canard a la presse 140 for two,) some of a signature court of owner otto, we sat near the kitchen on a large antique settee. but the sources had blown up so that I had been provided with a kiss with audrey hepburns face on it; all a little bizarre, but in a charming way. Otto’s is one of those restaurants that you may have heard about without really knowing where it is. It delivers the true meaning of the word “restaurant” by serving “food that restores”, but not in a food-for-food’s-sake kind of way, but in a classic, chic style. When you enter Otto’s, you’ll get a sense of a typical corner Parisian bistro that has been running for years, with its timeless, slightly rococo decor. Its generous menu has something to please everyone. Maybe you’ll start with the sublime, creamy raviolo of langoustine, with the shellfish cooked wonderfully, keeping its fullness of flavour. The products used at Otto’s are really high quality. For mains, the...read more

They had me at the Kir. Regular readers will know that Kir is my aperitif of choice. On the menu, Kirs Royale, Vin blanc, Impériale and Pêche. With these Kirs you are spoiling me. I would never have tried this, had I not read the glowing reviews. And as I walked through the nondescript door, I was transported straight back to rural France,to one of my many get in the car and see where we end up holidays, and of those local restaurants you come across by pure chance, serving well-cooked classic dishes for thrumpence. Not that you’ll be paying thrumpence here, mind. The décor may best be described as eclectic. Ornate and chintzy, with red velvet banquettes, lots of dark wood and...read more
