"Last Sunday I ate fish with my family at Pfauen, it was very nicely done. We were all very satisfied. Very loving, courteous service, It couldn't be better... Really good value food, in a lovely setting Old town. Very quiet here in a cozy atmosphere, decorated with roses and real candles. Romantic. And the new owner of the peacock is really doing much better than the old owner, No comparison.. My family and I were very satisfied We'd love to come back."

I've been to Pfauenessen twice since the change of tenant and can only recommend it. Very fine food and charming service.

A new host and new team for a few months. Finally a good address in Biel again!!Top service, very nice place, good food, courteous waiters all in all one of the best addresses in Biel! And all of this at moderate prices.

We stopped in for a late dinner and were pleasantly surprised by the meal. You can enjoy traditional swiss meals at Restaurants Pfauen. You can finish your meal off with a great ice cream dessert. If you're in town and wondering where to go, give this place a try.

Pfauen is a nice though old fashioned restaurant in the middle of the old town in Biel. We really enjoyed the offered basic food, being Swiss (Cordon Bleu) as well as International (Moules & Frites). All this was combined with an attentive and pleasant service. Thumb-up.

The food arrived incorrectly after 70 minutes, the service lady had to help out in the kitchen... so dozens of customers in the foreign trade left the restaurant after a waiting period without taking their orders. The Gordon Bleu was not eaten by several customers; it literally tasted like cornflakes with oil.

Dieses Restaurant hat wirklich Potential mein nächstes Lieblingslokal zu werden.Das Gasthaus ist tatsächlich enorm ästhetisch eingerichtet. Keine cheap Dekoration, stattdessen es war farblich sehr vieles sehr harmonisch auf einander abgestimmt.Jawohl,... richtig um nach wie vor ein Dessert hinterher essen zu können.Sehr flotter und höflicher Service. Ich finde, dass das ganze Personal dort einen guten Job gemacht hat.

We went to the Pfauen to enjoy their delicious cordon-bleu. We weren 't disappointed, it was marvelous. But apparently, since we went there around 9.30pm, the waitress must have wished that there wouldn 't be any people coming for dinner that late. Why do I think that? Because she had a terrible attitude, and did nothing to try to hide it. Shame, the food was good, but that waitress keeps me from giving the Pfauen a 5 star.

"Travelling by train from Lausanne to Zurich I felt like a break in the city of Biel/Bienne to have a bite and to try some local wine, since the area around the lake of Biel is a well known wine growing area. On that warm summer evening most locals had been heading towards the lake, thus the center was rather quiet. From the railway station I walked down the Bahnhofstrasse, where there are no cars, only city busses going through. On the right hand side can be found several eateries with outdoor seating. I chose the last one with almost no guests, but a friendly looking waitress. My order had been a glass of local white wine as a starter and the excellent waitress, who was also very informed about wine growing, recommended me a 'Schafiser '. Schafis is a village near the lake and it has given here the name to the Chasselas grape, which is so popular all over Western Switzerland and which is known as 'Fendant ' in the Valais. The modern looking restaurant in a functionalist style has all kind of dishes, also Fondue and Steak Tartare, but I went for a 'Falken Plättli '. On a plate of black slate are served cold cuts (roast beef, dry-cured ham, salami) and very little cheese, all topped by gherkins, caper berries and baby-tomatoes. Slices of dark bread and butter come with it and also a peppermill is brought along. To accompany the dish I asked for some local red wine and the waitress suggested a 'Pinot Noir ' from the village of Ligerz. The two deciliter came in a small caraffe. It was a quiet dinner and I enjoyed sitting outside and doing some people watching. After the tourist crowds of Montreux a few hours earlier it was relaxing to see no tourists here,on the other hand a for Switzerland surprising high number of obviously local residents with overseas roots."
