"We had a lunch reservation yesterday, we're a book group of 7 people, we've booked Pierre Victoire for the past 3years to celebrate Christmas together. We all enjoyed our meals and a few bottles of Rose wine. The staff are friendly and the service impeccable. We were enjoying ourselves so much we sat at our table for 4 hours!! We were politely asked to leave as the staff were preparing for the evening service. Highly recommended this super little restaurant it's great in every way, except for the toilets, they are down a flight of very steep steps making it unaccessible to people with disabilities."

really noisy and cramped restaurant. My friend salad was a joke as a main for £20 and was tiny. Terrible service also..dont go..

Excellent food, with very good service, reasonable price and decent house wine slightly out of City centre, but well worth the short walk

Lovely place for a classic French brasserie dinner. The food is not overly complicated ie they just do the classic dishes really well without unnecessary fuss. Great service (even on a busy night). Well done ! Ver carta

The food was good, but the service was rushed, making us feel pressured to finish quickly. We were given 90 minutes for our meal, but all three courses were served in just an hour, including the coffee which we tried to stretch out as much as we could.

Top notch food for a very reasonable price in a rustic setting. I dined here with two family members last night and we were all very impressed. I had the scallops to start and the steak to follow both flavoursome and cooked to perfection. Good selection of wines and a nice atmosphere. Only negative is it's verrrrry loud.

Another of our places we like to go, this bistro is a great, cosy restaurant, the food is simply good and changes with the seasons, the pigeon is one of my favourite dishes. This lunch was a meet up with family before Christmas, so we were expecting it to be busy, as it was. Staff were still friendly but were speedy. The tasty food, exciting atmosphere and family, all added up to a first class afternoon. Go with it. Ver carta

Our recent visit to Pierre Victoire was a bit of a revelation! The menu is varied and tempting making it actually difficult to choose, always a pleasant situation to be in and the service is attentive but never intrusive. Our food was simply delicious cheese soufflé and a fantastic fish dish with a moreish Thai inspired risotto. It was lovely. Great atmosphere, generous portions clearly food made with love and pride. Outstanding.

What a gem of a restaurant! We booked for 6pm thinking it would be quiet on a Saturday evening. How wrong were we. We initially were a little disappointed to be sat upstairs, out of the main dining room (which was full), however we had a much more quieter and intimate dinner. The service and food were of equal high standard. I had moules et frites for my main course...some of the best mussels I have ever had. My husband and I are already planning our next visit! Bravo, bravo!

"I've been going to Oxford for 3 years now and in that time to be frank struggled to find a decent go to restaurant. I can now say with delight i've found my destination. I present SPICED ROOTS a little caribbean culinary gem. The fresh perfectly cooked food is absolutely delicious and gives off that home cooked by mummy vibe and is beautifully presented. The chilli and garlic prawns had my eyes closed Mark Weins style (if you know you know) so juicy with an incredible depth of flavour, the Trini doubles not only were seasoned to perfection they left you wanting more and the Jerk chicken spring rolls were an absolute triumph. For mains we had the ackee and callaloo Jerk Tempah (vegetarian) and the Jerk chicken. Both came with rice peas, plaintain and salad. Not only were the portions huge the flavours of both dishes were just mind blowingly delicious. Then we embarked on dessert and had the beautiful spiced rum cake and a selection of 3 home made ice creams namely Coconut, Guinness and the old Caribbean favourite Rum and Raisin, all recommended by the owner. It's at this point I feel compelled to speak about the rum raisin ice cream. I've eaten this ice cream on numerous occasions at numerous locations in Jamaica over my many years and I tell you no word of a lie this was hands down the best rum and raisin ice cream I've ever tasted, it literally left us speechless. So to summarise, this place has great food, great music, great service and a wonderfully charming owner who's totally invested in serving great, incredibly tasty, authentic Caribbean food clearly prepared with love. What more could you ask for. Fair to say it was meant to be. Uncle Jay."
