"Went to celebrate our anniversary and was a little disappointed especially after reading the reviews. No bar area to sit and have a cosy drink as was advised they were all restaurant tables, although she did say we could sit at one of the many empty tables till 6 when it was booked. When we had our evening meal I had to complain about my mine. I never complain but felt I had to as I couldn’t eat my pie it was dry and even burnt in one part. They were very gracious and gave me a free dessert though to compensate. The lady who seemed in charge wasn’t very welcoming at all, even when I commented how nice the wine was, there was no response or acknowledgment back. They were obviously training some younger staff and one in particular (blonde young lady) made up for the lack of service from her superior. She was lovely and we wanted to thank her but she’d left by the time we had chance. The breakfast was lovely apart from for the sausage. My husband couldn’t eat it as said it didn’t taste right. My croissants were warm which was a nice touch. Overall, we won’t be going back but after this review, they probably won’t want us to. Thank you again to the young blonde waitress. Keep up the great service."

"yesterday returned to the briery for our weekly lunch with the family, after the Christmas break so beautiful to be able to get a good roast dinner at any time and not just on a Sunday. the türkei and the rind roast meat was absolutely beautiful a real homemade hearty meal! fantastic price-performance ratio from Monday to Friday, because if they buy a main meal from the menu, they will be offered a free dessert! and there is a lot of nice dishes to choose as well as the fry, cake and curry of the day, we have enjoyed every bit of each and can make sure that"

"Late review – been trying to pick out the good bits! Booked a table on a Saturday night, previous good reviews and visits but this time (7th Aug 2021) . . . it was terrible. Two small onion bhajis came plain without a salad garnish or lemon and had to ask for raita which came in a small plastic takeaway carton (just enough for one really – there were 4 of us), then found the bhajis were rock hard and overdone. Taken away and replaced with “complimentary” vegetable pakora which were nice enough but they later tried to charge for them. The size and presentation of the naans and chapattis were impressive, however the Balti wasn’t a Balti neither was the Jalfrezi a Jalfrezi. Rice portions were small and Tarka Dhal was off the menu tonight. There is a good choice of reputable restaurants in West Cumbria and we will wait for consistently good reviews on Masala Corner before we return. 2 out of 10."
