"Disgusting service! My parents eat here on a regular basis so that 's why we decided to go here with the rest of the family. What a massive disappointment. The food was average but the service was awful. After eating our mains, we had been waiting approx 30 minutes for our plates to be collected and our dessert order to be taken. I had to get a member of staff to clear our table and take our order as we had two very youngs children who were getting very restless. The young, female waitress was incredibly rude with a rather large chip on her shoulder for being asked to do what she 's paid for. When we ordered our desserts, she dumped the spoons and napkins on the end of the table and walked off in a sulk. When she was giving our desserts out, my mum asked if her tea would be coming with the desserts to which the waitress replied 'yeah yeah ' and walked off. We had this reply every time we asked her any questions. For the cost of the meal, it was definitely not worth our custom and would strongly advise others not to waste their money at this restaurant. The restaurant clearly don 't care about the disgusting service they are offering and if you need further evidence of this, just look at how they have responded to other bad reviews. There are better restaurants in the area with well mannered staff."

Pleasant staff overall enjoyed time but £29 for a fillet the size of a goldfish was very poor, prawns were as white as casper the ghost

Enjoyed the meal but the crackling on the slow cooked belly park with scallops was toohard to eat. Apart from that lovely meal. Go for the 3 course meal with a bottle of wine. £100 for two well worth it. Ver carta

Visited here a few times now and I've enjoyed every visit. The quality of food is to a very high standard, we enjoyed our starters and main meals. The service was great and the restaurant area is really nice. Tables are nicely spaced out not congeste. Thank you and see you again soon.

Visited for a friend's birthday. Surroundings itself are very nice but service food, unfortunately, weren't the best. It took a while for the server to take our order not sure if that's due to staffing issues) and then when my fish chips came, it was indelible. Have visited a few times before in the past but have to say, the last few times hasn't been upto usual standard.

My first time visiting but it definitely won't be my last. The waiting staff were friendly and knowledgeable and the food was beautifully presented and very tasty. The dessert was to die for too. After a latte myself and my friend were fit to burst. Lovely atmosphere and all in all a beautiful couple of hours spent. I would definitely recommend the place. Great choices on the menu and very friendly staff. Ver carta

Lovely staff, great service but unfortunately let down by the slightly disappointing burger. I'm an irritating customer as I ask for it without the salad and pickles etc but then it arrived with a very measly strip of bacon and missing the cheese sauce I'd requested to keep on. Picture included for reference. Despite that, it was actually well cooked and tasted great but could have been better. Will return again and hope that I was just unlucky on the day.

I used to like this place visited on Sunday for a roast. Really like the service here the staff are all really nice and are lovely with my daughter's. I had the duo of beef and wife had the roast chicken. Whilst the gravy had great depth and tasted awesome I would say I was disappointed with the slither of dry sirloin which had a hard textured ring around it and the short rib boneless was either burnt or a blob of fat. The food wasn't great. Wife said the chicken was okay but felt sick later (not blaming the chicken but only thing she ate that day other than cereal) The kids pizza was a sloppy mess tasted nice but didn't even hold its shape. The place and its surrounding fields smelt like se...

"This was our first visit. I have to remind myself that this is a training environment for students but there should be someone in charge, who is identifiable to direct the students on how to present a menu and how to place a dish in front of customers. However, four courses for £35, amuse bouche counted for one course. Amouse bouche lacked any seasoning, orzo starter, well cooked but again lacked seasoning. My wife had fish, Coley, which was nice. I had chicken breast on a bed of curry sauce with hassleback potatoes. My whole dish was luke warm at best, the curry sauce was overpowering, and the hassleback potatoes were not crispy. The chicken was lovely and moist and I ordered a side of triple cooked chips which were super hot, expensive at £4, I only wish the rest of my dish was that hot. I had cheese and biscuits which consisted of Brie, blue cheese and cheddar together with chutney. My wife had Pain Perdue which was well presented and tasty. The restaurant is more like a cafe, not cosy, so don't choose it if you want a romantic evening. Overall would I go again? probably not. If you are ever near the Lake district try to book a table in the restaurant at Kendal College. On a final note; there is parking on an evening next to the college. Drive up to the barrier and press the call button, security will let you in. The barrier opens automatically on exit."

"6 adults, 2 teenagers and 2 children went here for my mom's birthday meal. Mom chose the place as she's been here before. I wasn't sure what to expect from her description so I checked on here before leaving work. I have never seen so many 5 star reviews and hoped it lived up to the hype. We arrived at 7:30pm after driving through a pleasant housing estate. The premises are located on the ground floor of a community centre, next to the gym. The illuminated GIOS sign was the only clue. Upon entering, we saw 4 other tables were occupied, with 12-14 other patrons. The interior decor was unusual, with countless pieces of artwork, movie posters, and unusual items with an Italian theme. The tables and chairs are all different shapes and sizes, but this just adds to the charm of the place. Within a minute, Gio emerged from the kitchen with a warm welcome. We sat down and opened the drinks we had bought with us, the place is not licenced. Soon, we had ordered the taster menu for the adults and the youngsters had pizza. First we had a lovely, fresh vegetable soup, with cold meats, a crustless quiche and lovely warm bread. Not long after, Gio, who was the only waiter, came out with the kids pizzas. Freshly made and delicious, and about 12 of thin crust. Then he bought out 2 large lasagne, 2 large plates of a pasta dish with courgette, 2 plates of plain chicken thighs and breast on a salad with crispy chicken skin, 2 plates of another spicier chicken with skin, on a bed of delicious herby potatoes, and an Italian casserole with sausage and meatballs in a tomato sauce. Food was plentiful and delicious. Gio packed the leftovers up as there was a lot of food, all made fresh in the premises. We then had a chat as Gio served everyone else, without looking stressed and being so friendly and polite with everyone. He also gives a carafe of water and a carafe of juice to each table. Italian music playing, he then produced a dessert with was like a warm brownie, with thick, clotted cream, a fruity drizzle and an amaratto biscotti on top. The ladies and gents are located next door where you walk through a healing centre, with chairs creating a walkway to keep you from the various equipment. As I said, the kitchen and restaurant is in a shared community centre. I was told profits go to local homeless, and it's clear from the decoration that Gio does a lot for local charities. Mom picked up the bill of £13.50 a head (massive value) and Gio said the kids were only a fiver, but mom asked him to keep the rest which he eventually did after some persuasion. When the main rustic Italian tasters were served, Gio also served two more fresh pizzas at no cost, which he says they always do for larger groups. I have plenty of leftovers to take to work today, and we all left full after the kids plated the piano and Gio and an older customer danced in the restaurant. Three pots of fresh coffee to finish. A lovely place, beautiful fresh food, amazing value and it serves the local community. Great job, Gio!"
