Portovenere - Carta

In the middle of busy Nice evening dine out area. Food was excellent but the waiter and waitress got long faces, treated differently with other locals.

Nice,small restaurant in the middle of everything in Nice. Ok food and reasonable prices. Close to the sea and the city center. Lots of people walking by.

I ordered some ham and an aparagus risotto and both were very tasty. I was sitting inside and it was not as calm as I had hoped though, but that's probably the atmosphere they want :-). Recommends it! Ver carta

A couple things came out wrong (not a big deal) but the owner still gave us our appetizers free. Pasta was delicious...wish I'd seen the lobster on the menu because it looked amazing coming out of the kitchen

this is a good restaurant in Nice, not far from Promenade des anglais. The staff is helpful, nice terrace and service is good. It is not a WOW restaurant, but the whole experience is good. Prices are reasonable.

Had great expectations based on the reviews, left puzzled and disappointed. This place is definitely busy with many locals, promising... Started with the mussels appetizer, this was very tasty. The highlight of our meal. Next we had two pasta dishes. Both too dry, and not very tasty. Not recommended. Ver carta

We were having drinks on a very touristy street just off the beach promenade and our waitress recommended Portovenere as the best restaurant around. We had beef carpaccio as starter (this was a bit bland) and varieties of seafood pasta for our main which was quite tasty but on the oily side, followed by what looked like home made fruit sorbet for dessert (this was delicious!). Prices were as expected high on this touristy street and I've definitely eaten better Italian. Overall not bad though and the service was good.

We were so excited about going to dinner here! We tried to make reservations one night and they booked so we made them the following night. When we got there we were seated at a nice table and the waitress took our drink order. She came back (without water or wine) a few moments later and took our dinner order. Dinner came out within five minutes before we got our drinks. (The local people around us didn't seem to have this issue) a few moments later our drinks finally arrived. The food was amazing I had the bolognese and my husband had beef with a side of pesto pasta. The horrible service overshadowed the amazing food. As a tourist I definitely noticed I was treated much different than loca...

Portovenere has a family restaurant feel to it. There are locals, or even annual visitors like the couple who sat next to us, who have developed quite a rapport with both the chef/owner and the service staff. That made for an enjoyable atmosphere as there was conversation flowing all night. My wife got rigatoni with tomato and basil, which was a very simple dish, but full of wonderful flavor. I chose the tortellini in a tomato and pesto cream sauce and was in no way disappointed with my selection. Our garden salad and grilled vegetables to start were delicious, and the house wine was exactly what we hoped for -- good quality for an even better price. The highlight, even with everything else...
