"I’ve passed this place a number of times and really liked the look of it, always busy and seemed popular. Headed down for brunch today and was really disappointed. Ordered the French toast but told they no longer do it, so opted for scrambled egg. Took a while to come and alas were an odd texture and completely tastleless. They were done in the microwave and suspect it was powdered egg rather than actual eggs. Seems a real shame as on the menu they state they use local ingredients and the best stuff made with love. This didn’t seem to apply today, staff seemed harassed. Coffee was good which was a saving grace but I won’t be back for food. All in all overpriced and disappointing."

Felt like we overstayed our welcome, staff seemed annoyed we didn’t leave sooner, apologies if we annoyed anyone.

This is a conveniently located coffee shop near the tram stop at The Shore. It serves the usual offerings of a cafe of this standard.

First time visiting there with my friend. Lovely place, had a delicious Chai Latte and friend had a Flat White. Friendly staff and quick service. Would like to come back again.

Went in for a coffee and cake and asked if there were any gluten free and l was told to look at the labels and then came the charge of £6.90 for a gf chocolate cake (small) and a flat white . Also got blocked in by a truck at the parking area

Reasonable food but they forgot to bring my coffee. I ordered scrambled eggs with salad on sourdough toast. It was good and delivered quickly. The orange juice I ordered was from a bottle in the fridge so little to say about that. I'm still waiting to receive my flat white...

Visited the Very pleasant staff kings Rd Portobello branch, close to home. One tea one Americano £7. Tea really nice and coffee ok. Service a bit slow. Sat outside in sun. Would recommend the bins were moved to improve ambiance and fag ends swept up from under the bench. We will visit regularly but wish for quicker service. Hope the business does well.

We've been here several times over the years and always enjoyed it, however, recently the experience has been disappointing. Service has become really poor to the point where it's uncomfortable and food mediocre at best. Watery soup with tiny amount of bread, wraps with half the amount of filling and sad salad leaves. Coffee is nice but there's better places out there that offer better service. Won't be back.

Was in the area one Saturday morning for work, and after a 6am start, with it being late morning now I was in need of my coffee fix and something to eat. Decided upon the Printworks Coffee as I heard good things about it. For a Saturday morning it was packed, so ordered their breakfast roll and a coffee to go. Prepared in a no time and was very tasty. Staff are very welcoming and will chat with you. If in this area of Edinburgh again in future, I will most certainly pop in here again.

Our Airbnb was just around the corner so we came a couple of times to the Printworks Coffee for lunch as well as grabbed coffees in the mornings. It was always busy and there was lots of staff. At one lunch (July 17/23), we had Cajun Chicken Baguette, Chicken Chorizo Baguettes and Chicken Pesto Baguette. We also had numerous espresso's, latte's and Americano's! At one time, I asked for a receipt and I noticed that I was charged for sit-in instead of take-away so they refunded me the extra money as soon as I mentioned it. I think it was because the staff member was not used to ringing up the orders. We really enjoyed dropping in there!

"new kapitel has caught my attention after I was on top ten on trip advisor only months after the opening in the oktober last year. that and the fact that it is open for my early january birthday, made it the perfect place to celebrate to become a little older. I was with the man and his family. the man is quite used to my taste and good to the kind of kitchen that would appeal to me for a special occasion; his family not so much and I was filled with shame as his mother scornful went through the menu trying to find something she would enjoy. I've eaten with the family of the man, and I know they enjoy eating, so I think it's a failure of the menu that it is not accessible. the benming always blooming and garnish can appeal to some, but for others it is overcomplicated and it is necessary to find a balance between the two. we start with the starters and I go for venison sour wort pithvier. the venison was underheated and incredibly dry, to the happiness the sourded a little moisturizing and so saved the whole dish, but the aromen were quite not clear, except the garnitur of plastered mushrooms I thoroughly enjoyed. for the largest part we chose a fish dish for our main,- sea trout, smoked muddles, petersilien and coast herbs. where the starter fell, the main recording is getting back. the dish is rich and creamy, and each element adds the complexity of the taste as a whole, without disturbing. the concept is now an old one, and it would be deceptive if it had not worked, as it would essentially pay with this place. I enjoyed my meal in new chapter, although I do not agree with it is stellar status under the hierarchy of edinburgh eateries. it is top ten position is just a flash in the pan of hot popularity, and in time it will be plated in the upper half of the middle stage where it belongs. and that is where it belongs, the dishes can be plated with a michelin star in understood, and the venue and the supporting media has the clean lines and empty slate look of fine but eat the team has a long gone to go if that is their real aim. at the end, although it was a beautiful meal, and cheap (at the moment I would not be surprised to see their prices slowly rise) and the man’s mother found something they enjoyed and that is the most important."
