"Such a lovely place to stop for lunch, we popped in passing through and I am so glad we did. The staff were so lovely and accommodating, we weren't that hungry so split a soup and sandwich and they plated it up separately for us. the food was amazing proper home cooking with great quality ingredients, a simple tomato and basil soup and cheese and ham sandwich was delightful. "The Commercial Inn has recently won local MP, Robert Largen's “Best Pub in the High Peak” award. The pub is located on the corner of Manor Park Road and Sheffield Road but doesn't have it's own car park although street parking is available. The pub was clean and well presented and comprises three rooms that could be described as the bar area, pool room and dining area. Three large muted TV screens were turned on in the pool room and bar areas. The bar staff were smartly dressed and very polite. A food menu was provided but it was necessary to ask for the lunchtime menu which was eventually received. Two real ales were on offer: Timothy Taylor Landlord and Sharp's Solar Wave Hazy IPA as well as a good selection of lagers, ciders, wines and spirits. We ordered a ciabatta from the lunchtime menu as well as a meal from the main menu. The food took 45 minutes to arrive and when received had garden peas instead of the mushy peas that were requested (not a deal breaker but does show inefficiency). The food was of good quality, tastey and well presented. The value for money was OK and if you are in the area it's well worth giving the Commercial Inn a try."

"I researched this café, looking for a meal break in my long journey home from Sheffield. I made a special detour to Glossop to go there. I checked the opening hours on their website the night before, which said they were open until 5pm. It was very disappointing therefore to find all the chairs on the tables and someone cleaning up at just before 3.45. The man explained that they had been very quiet. When I asked about the hours on the website the man said that they didn't know the password to make changes!! Luckily I spotted a Food Hall (not just any food hall... down a path on the opposite side of the road and went there. I try and support the independents but I felt badly let down by this one. I would have been writing a quite different review if the man in the café had had either compassion or a business brain. Both were absent. When I had just travelled an hour to get there and find the café closing, the offer of a hot drink and piece of toast would have been very welcome. As it was I had a very tasty halloumi and falafel wrap in the Food Hall."

"very disappointed from the arrival had booked table but still 15 minutes had to wait no table reservation? several occasions brought them false drinks on our table and told them that we did not order and they were another table. I had tapas with 6-7 dressed on the picture, but only 4 and all very mild. had mentioned to manager, but excuse was short personal (very overwhelmed was not impressed no discount neither after the complaining, but give us a free dose limonade?"

"The pub has new tenants and they need to up their game where supplying shiny, clean glassware is concerned. It might have been clean, but the glass supplied with my wife 's cider was watermarked and wet which just doesn 't look nice glasses should sparkle! I noticed that another wine drinking customer also had a freshly cleaned, but grubby looking glass. The pub is attractively decorated with comfortable seating. Being quite spacious, it needs a fair few customers to feel properly 'lived in ', but it was quiet when we visited we enjoy more of a 'buzz '. There 's fierce competition from Old Glossop 's two other pubs, both within 50 metres and so I expect that it 'll take time to build a regular clientele there 's lots of promise though and I wish them well."
