"Popped in to The Red Hut chippy while on a day out in South Shields. Sat indoors as it was a tad chilly. The fish and chips were the nicest I 've had in a long time; tasty, 'home cooked ' chips and beautifully flaky, tasty cod in a light, tasty batter. Came with a drink and a round of bread and butter for £7.70. It was such a good sized portion that my wife and I shared it and both felt like we 'd had a good lunch afterwards. (The owner even offered us an extra plate when he saw we were sharing."

Use the red hut regularly, I have only purchased fish and chips and found them to be tasty and a good portion at a reasonable price

This is old fashioned fish and chips at its best, no frill but clean and tasty.Everything is cooked to order so a little waiting but fresh and tasty.

Good value for money fish A nice big piece of cod. Cooked in rapeseed oil which is to be avoided as it has a strong flavour. Chips were cold and chewy. Staff friendly. Personally I would not go again.
