"we decided to visit the chequers on the recommendation of the owner of our holiday home in wretham and were very satisfied that we did. if they are not local (or even if they are) it is a scenic journey along forested tracks and huge. open fields in the village thompson. the chequers itself is full of character and we enjoyed the rustic charm of the environment in the dining room. the staff was friendly and friendly. we were a family celebration of four, two adults and two children. we all really enjoyed our meal, between us we had steak and ale cake, sweet curry, pizza and cheesy nachos. sadly not a room for dessert, but a very pleasant eating and a pleasant ambiente both inside and outside the pubs, where locals drink and entertain on a mild summer evening."

"Went to the Wagon and Horses second time with a week. Last week took our daughter this week our son. Our son wanted to try venison. Where else would you go. The service was beyond excellent. All three of us had amazing dishes. I could not manage dessert. The landlord was welcoming, and talkative and made us all so welcome. Will make this our place to eat in the Breckland Watton area."

"We’ve eaten here a couple of times (we were the only ones actually in the restaurant on both occasions) food was very nice. Ordered a take away though and boy what a disappointment. Ordered early evening thinking it would be busy on a Saturday and my order was due to arrive at 6.20pm. 6.45pm I called to say nothing yet arrived, and was asked ‘what do you mean?’ I was then told my order had left and was on its way. Half an hour later, nothing still, so called again to be told that my order had never been received (albeit I had a confirmation of order and Just Eat told me exactly what time the order had been accepted by the restaurant) when queried why I had been told my order was on its way, I was told that ‘it was a mistake, you have not placed an order’ clearly management problems with this restaurant (which is sad) but in no way did anyone try and put right their wrong, nor was an apology forthcoming. Such a shame, and definitely the last visit/order from us."

"We stumbled upon this charming country pub while visiting family in the area, looking for something different from the standard chain pub fare. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of both the drinks and food we had for lunch, even though we arrived right before they closed the kitchen at 2pm. We opted for the hunters chicken and fish and chips, as they had run out of their popular pies. The portion sizes were generous for the price, especially the huge fish covered in a light and delicious homemade beer batter. The hunters chicken was also delectable, with a large chicken breast topped with bacon and BBQ sauce, served with a side of chips and salad. We highly recommend this pub if you're in the area, with a cozy outdoor seating area and even guest rooms available in their attached B&B."

"We have had many lunch time meals at this pub/restaurant but this was our first evening meal. I was very impressed with the menu choice and was not disappointed on delivery. Those eating the beef thought it was beautifully cooked and tasty. The two fish mains were lovely and the children enjoyed their choices from the children's menu. In fact all our meals were delicious and presented well. There was a good choice of desserts which went down well. Our waitresses were attentive, friendly and accommodating. I cannot fault the service in this pub/ restaurant. We will visit again."
