"The staff informed us that we needed to place our orders at the bar. When I did so, I was told my options were limited to the menu, and there would be a one-hour wait for the food. The chicken pie and steak arrived about 50 minutes after ordering and were surprisingly good. The staff was friendly and hardworking throughout our visit. The takeaway from this experience is that this place is not a gastro-pub per se; it’s more suited for those who are primarily looking to enjoy drinks with a bit of food on the side—just be prepared to wait. The pub seems to be struggling to find a balance between being a casual drinking spot and a restaurant, as it looks like it’s trying to do both."

Nice large pub, live band on the Friday evening. Dogs allowed although in live music nights are asked to leave by 9.30. Food good, fast helpful service. Will visit again when in Newquay

We've been visiting Red Lions for years, but every time the dining experience has been disappointing. The staff is wonderful, but sadly, they need to hire better chefs. The pub itself is great, but unfortunately, we won't be returning to eat here.

very friendly place, where we immediately felt welcome. beverages and food orders that are immediately removed and delivered in time. enjoying both a lot and the atmosphere was alive with background music and lots of loose without being overcrowded.

We have been here a few times whilst on holiday. This time was the best we had booked so was sat in a lovely spot with a window view out across the harbour. Staff very bubbly and helpful, I just wanted some wholesome comfort food as we had over indulge on fish and chips all week. I chose terrine to start it was nice , then beef pie and mash it came with vegetables and a jug of gravy. Huge puff crust , it was delicious. I had a pudding from the mini pudd section also very nice. Overall lovely experience was had , we will definately revisit.
