"The “21” owes its name to its location on the top floor of the Kaiserslauterner Rathaus at a height of 72 m. The restaurant is located in 21. Stock! Last summer, my husband and I started the first attempt of a dinner here (without reservation). The Friday evening “After Work Party” was fully underway, so we were looking for a calmer destination. Panoramic view we could still enjoy from the large outdoor terrace. September 2017 Now my friend and husband invited her daughter’s birthday to “21”. Sunday evening it is pleasantly quiet there. We were looking forward to it. Five, we went on the way to downtown. Since Sunday night we even found free parking. As last year, we felt the construction finished at the end of the 1960s was very unused. Nothing happened here for decades. I was hoping for the functionality of the elevator. The restaurant can't do anything for these points, but the city of Kaiserslautern urgently needs to improve the appearance. After all, the office is also in the building. At the top we were kindly greeted in the modern restaurant and accompanied to our reserved on the window. . Our table was simply and clean with table runners and fabric napkins. Opposite the entrance there is a Theken lounge area, here it can be louder. . In our area, this bar area was only visited by two people. The friendly employee handed the menus on a clamping board. Classics are supplemented with “specials”, these change seasonal. Mineral water was of course not missing. Open wines were offered by the winery Knoll Vogel. We chose the Grauburgunder dry and the Chardonnay dry, each € 0.25 l 5,50. Fresh baguette and herbal cucumber were served as a kitchen sauce. As an appetizer for both of us: pumpkin cream soup with shrimp in crispy shell € 6.50. Pumpkin cream soup with shrimp in a crispy coat Very hot served, with very good pumpkin taste, pleasantly spicy, convincing. The shrimps are placed laterally on a wooden skewer. A good idea, so the shrimp did not bathe in the soup and remained crispy outside! A good start! The main course of my husband: Linguine with shrimp and cherry tomatoes in garlicsugo € 13.50 Linguine with shrimp and cherry tomatoes served in garlicsugo A plentiful portion in the preheated deep plate. Pasta and shrimp cooked to the point. A good spice with herbs and garlic. I chose the Tagliatelle with Asian roasted salmon cubes and spinach € 14,50 Tagliatelle with Asian roasted salmon cubes and spinach also plentiful and well seasoned, with the Asian spice very behaved. The salmon cubes fried juicy. Unfortunately, before roasting the gray trandy was not removed, I don't like it at all. I was allowed to try the dinkelpasta at the table with fresh spinach, cherry tomatoes, goat cheese and roasted pine nuts € 11.50. Dinkelpasta with fresh spinach, cherry tomatoes, goat cheese and roasted pine nuts Also very good. The ladies in the service were all very friendly and attentive, could give good information. From the service also the attentive question whether the child (as without an appetizer) should get the main course served beforehand. Even after serving food, the question of our satisfaction was not lacking. Conclusion: Do not let a visit stop from the city's unsightly entrance! The restaurant is modern and well maintained. We were all very happy this evening. It didn't seem different in the side tables. Price performance fits absolutely. The view over Kaiserslautern is simply great, even at night. View towards Ramstein"

Food and Atmosphere are amazing! Germany altogether doesn’t have designated parking so nothing against the restaurant itself. No parking is the only reason I won’t give 5 stars Ver carta

We got a table at short notice with luck, the restaurant was fully booked. Despite the longer waiting period, I am thrilled with food and staff. Super friendly services and a great operator. The food was very good, I can only recommend.

Good spot for a date night. The view is spectacular, especially if you can catch the sunset. Great service even when they’re super busy. Appetizers were delicious, main entrees left a little to be desired. I did enjoy my mango tiramisu very much.

Fabulous restaurant with a gorgeous 21st floor window view of Kaiserslautern. Friendly staff and management and a fantastic selection of fusion cuisine. I have heard other customers interact with servers in English, so that is a plus for non-German speakers. The photos I have posted are from my Schillerplatz flat in Kaiserslautern which is about a 3 minute walk away from my elevator to theirs. This is a must-experience dining opportunity. But, make sure you reserve a table a week in advance or so. They are very busy and that is tribute to their quality and service. Kudos to all the staff for always making my experience there fabulous. "Holiday, nice weather and still what to do in Kaiserslautern. We planned our start in Kaiserslautern with a light lunch. We visited Ayame for the first time 3 years ago. It is located in the former JVA Kaiserslautern, which was converted a few years ago into the Hotel Alcatraz. A Japanese restaurant fits well here, because the Japanese garden borders directly on the building. We have free parking in the courtyard. Schlichter hotel entrance, only hidden hints at the restaurant The way to the small restaurant leads past the reception. At 13.45 we entered the small restaurant with few seats and hoped to have a seat. Open until 14.00. A long-term construction site on the way to Kaiserslautern forced us to a rather large detour. We were the only guests, were warmly welcomed by a young man. Our question whether we get anything else to eat was kindly hunted. So we took a seat in the small, Japanese-style dining room and got the menu. Optic hasn't changed much since our last visit. Everything is clean and well maintained, bare tables. Daylight only illuminates the room. Unfortunately, you can't look outside. . The menu surprised me. She was partly handwritten and so completely different from my memory. Due to the advanced time, we decided very quickly: 2 large mineral water € 2.50 Foreway to crumb: Edamame € 4.20 For both of us: Sushi Menu € 13.80: Miso Soup, 3 Sushi Nigiri, 4 pieces Hosomaki, 8 pieces Uramaki Our drinks came immediately and well cooled. A good portion of the salted soybeans a little later. The hot beans in the bowl were a tasty crackling beforehand. The young man supported a (his? wife in the open kitchen. Here I was able to observe how the Misosuppe was tasted and the lady freshly prepared our sushi. That made all a very good impression. View into the open kitchen The steaming soup with tofu insert tasted mild and yet aromatic according to the Wakamealga. After a reasonable waiting period, our sushi were served. Very appealing. The 3 Nigiri classic with salmon, shrimp and tuna. The “Makis” pefect rolled, very good in taste. Overall a good portion, we were pleasantly tired. There was really nothing to complain about for the price. Sushi Menu The young man was very attentive, but to expect from two guests. In between the question whether everything tastes. Wasabi, soy sauce and ginger were handed down. In the case of numbers, the solution for the significantly different menu. The young Japanese couple only took over the restaurant a few weeks ago. This also explained that some processes have not yet been very routined. Stay to hope that the small restaurant will talk to friends of Japanese cuisine. Despite proximity to the city, it is very hidden in the building complex. Running is not coming over here and not every hotel guest likes Sushi. The toilets belong to Hotel Alcatraz, are modern, very clean and well maintained. Restaurant and toilets are walkable and without stairs."
