"As far as I can see, Solalex (sounds like the name of a French motorised cycle) consists of two buildings, both restaurants which face each other across a car park.We ate at both. The Miroir has been run by the Jaggi family for 35 years but they are now selling up. It is to be hoped that their successors do as well as they as regards customer satisfaction. My main course was a veal concoction, 'Emincé de Veau'. Superb. When my wife's 'Boeuf' arrived, my heart sank! Half a dozen thick slices of very rare roast beef. I had forgotten to ask for it 'VERY well done'. In the event, she ate every bit apart for a mouthful I insisted on trying. Such was the quality of the raw material, one could have eaten it raw! So now my wife, the fussiest eater imaginable, can manage rare beef! The rösti accompanying both our meals was/were the best we had ever tasted.Lovely puddings to follow, half a litre of wine, SFR 108. Not cheap but well worth it.You need to book, especially weekends. Closed Tuesdays, the Refuge opposite closes Mondays. More about that establishment elsewhere."

One of the joys of life is having great food surrounded by beautiful scenery. This is exactly what this place offers along with very friendly service and descent prices. Everything we tried was locally sourced and extremely tasty. We come to Villars every year and this is our favourite place.

Such a pity that the two brothers are selling this place and their daughters don't want to take it on. The new owners will have a fund of goodwill to build on. We had Chestnut and squash soup followed by escalope of pork and our two friends had venison followed by Strawberry Mille Fileur. It looked lovely but hiking round l'Argentine beckoned. Come here next spring, check out the new owners and walk. Its spectacular.

After a long walk, we decided to stop at the Miroir. lthough there were no dairy free options which I found disappointing, the service was good and they offered to make me a meal I could eat. They made me polenta with wild mushrooms and broccoli. The mushrooms were some of the best ive ever had. The bread baskets they offer are good too as they are filled with various types of delicious fresh bread. The ambience was great with a warm log fire and open kitchen.

The site and natural surroundings are beautiful, and when you enter in the restaurant, you are welcomed like a family member, with warmth and a lovely sense of humour. The food is perfect in every way, with a varied menu. Most of all, the products used are top notch: they pick the mushrooms and berries themselves, for instance. It's also possible to have half portions of some entrees, which I found was a good idea (leaves some space for dessert). I highly recommend it. And the good news is that the same family will still be here in 2017!

One has to drive up to Solalex to find this very local restaurant with excellent food since many years. The menu changes quite a few times each week. Note that the restaurant is only open a few days per week. We had excellent rouleau de printemps as starters and a beef carpaccio, salad and perfect roesti as a main dish. Everything was very well prepared and quite tasteful. Nice,y presented. Desserts are home made and very good. Especially the (rice) ice cream and sorbets. Prices are somewhat high as most restaurants in Switzerland do not come cheap. Service is excellent, quite friendly. Nice local wine list. Ver carta

This restaurant is run and staffed by an extended family who treat you as if you are personal guests. The setting is idyllic, after a beautiful drive we arrived to the sound of bells which came from a herd of goats making their way down the hillside. The scenery is stunning, the chalet restaurant beautiful. Your charming host details the menu by drawings on the menu or table mats, everything has interesting features which he illustrates for you. Several starters and desserts are available as standard or small portions, so that you have every chance to try all courses. Even the bread is so tasty you have to remind yourself to leave room for the delights to come. Altogether a special occasion,...

"It was raining cats and dogs as we drove up to Les Posses from Bex in search of Chez Mantisi. The clouds hung low and the mountains remained invisible. The restaurant was perched high on a mountain top, and we were pleased to see a...large parking area. We walked through the door into the warm cheery welcome of a Bonjour! from the owner, as she led us to our table. For the rest of the evening we could hear her husband burst into loud song as he cooked in the kitchen. We were convinced a chef as happy as he was would present us with delicious food and we weren't wrong! We were celebrating a special occasion and although the stunning views played hide and seek with the clouds, we were happy to be snug and dry in the little restaurant cum hotel, all done up in dark wood and plush red furnishings. The menu was simple. I had a Gnocchi ai Gemelli from the list of the Chef's Recommendations and husband had Ravioles de Loup de Mer, Pesto rosso et Bisque de Homard. Unbelievably delicious. Portions were huge and I had to ask for a doggy bag to take home half the gnocchi. We shared a delectable, if unusual Tiramisu of generous proportions (it had kiwi fruit hiding in the bottom of the glass). DInner was of course washed down with a glass of vino rosso! The price was not the cheapest we have known, but the service was a delight and the evening memorable. As we braved the pouring rain to get back into the trusted chariot we decided we'd definitely be back on a day when the sky was bright blue instead of dark gray. My advice: worth making a special trip to this excellent restaurant"
