"I was spontaneous with my 10-year-old daughter in the evening at franco and we were very happy. first we were welcomed very friendly and my apologising note that after a long hot day in the city we were optically not equipped for a fine restaurant visit, you were kindly smiled away. the service was consistently attentive and friendly and the spears (pantered goat cheese on rocket salad/balsamico, homemade raviolini and spaghetti bolognese) were delicious. your wine card offers a good choice, I personally recommend the insoglio 2013 - with 49 eur however already quite ambitiously prized. still recommended overall!"

spontaneously with brother and family (i.e. 2 very demanding youngs) get table, warm but not intrusively greeted, and culinary no desires open. even if it should not be just pizza and pasta: here also fish and meat excellent - and affordable.

without cumbersome behaviour for Easter Sunday still reserved a table for 8 people in the morning. that was a good start. the food was excellent and we like to come back here. from the outside small and inconspicuous, but for that in everything that matters.

the restaurant is somewhat inconspicuous from the outside - I walked past......but as I wish an Italian restaurant: cozy, authentic, to feel comfortable and with wonderful decor on the menu. We were well looked after and had a wonderful evening with super tasty dishes.Thank you, I like to come back with my family. Ver carta

we were on the internet looking for an italian near the hotel eppendorf. simply run, no risk on a Thursday. the few other people were quite clear masters. we ate two very tasty pizzas, on the way to the house bruscetta. the tirami su as a dessert was also very good. we were welcomed and served very friendly and will be happy to come back at the next hamburg stay in December!

we were here with friends after a sauna visit to eat a little bite. the restaurant is rather small and cozy. That's why you should pre-order a table because it was very full. the family service was nice and attentive. the food supply moved in the frame of a normal italian. the portions were not oversized but sufficient. the quality was appealing. all in all a nice restaurant visit, which we would certainly repeat on occasion.

"There's always a question (in my mind, anyway) as to Michelin's accuracy/usefulness outside of France. In the US, it's not very helpful at all and in Europe ex-France, I've found it hit and miss. Haerlin represented only my second stab at a two-star in Germany and the first meal (Heinz Winkler), while a thoroughly wonderful overall experience, felt like the second star might have been a stretch. Not so at Haerlin, this was a two-star meal that stands fork-to-fork with any I can remember. The food is stylized to within an inch of its life, but close to flawless in both conception and execution. Outside of a large selection of generally unremarkable breads and a luke-warm roasted onion broth added to an amuse at table side that probably should have been hotter, the meal was simply one perfect dish after another. Maybe the sorbet intermezzo was a little old school in such a fashion forward meal, but - hey - it was delicious! Keep it.The room is suitably formal, luxurious in a traditional style, and quite comfortable. The pace of service might be a little leisurely for some (I ate alone and the four-course menu (seven + courses, including amuses, etc) pushed it a bit, stretching just over three hours. However, the friendly and attentive staff kept an eye out the entire time and stopped by if the time between courses presented the opportunity. The somm, in particular, was a great diversion, visiting from time to time to discuss the varied and interesting wines on offer. He provided useful insight into the outstanding selection of trocken Rieslings on the list. He guided me to a 2001 Burklin-Wolf GG that, at Eu 150, was both a great bottle of mature white and a tremendous value for a wine of this quality in this type of restaurant. (Good luck finding a white burgundy of this quality at this price at any multi-star restaurant - or at retail, for that matter.) He also suggested a wonderful German Pinot Noir by the glass that worked perfectly with the meat course and wasn't terribly expensive. The list is extensive, but not the tome you see at some restaurants, but don't be fooled - wine service at Haerlin is both a major plus and represents notable value in the context of multi-star restaurants.I'm not going to argue two-star vs three-star because that distinction often seems to be kind of mysterious (and tangentially related to the food), but I will say that this place certainly deserves two stars. I had just a flat-out great meal. If you can work in a visit, Haerlin should be high on your list."
