"We met friends here for a couple of nights as it was central and also ideally located for walking into the city and site-seeing. We did the 2 night deal with money off dinner and a bottle of prosecco. The room was ok, clean and a comfy bed but very tired. The shaver point in the bathroom didn't work and we had to go into another room to shower as our shower was stuck on red hot! The disappointing part of the whole weekend was the evening meal. Over priced and just not of good quality. Mussels the size of peas and the belly of pork soggy with no crispy crackling and no apple sauce in the whole place! Overall a dreadful meal. The breakfasts were ok with a nice selection for the cooked breakfast. However it too was let down by not being topped up BEFORE it had run out so firstly I waited for the coffee machine as it had run out of beans, then there was no orange juice and then to top it all no bacon, hash browns or sausages. By the time they had been topped up the scrambled egg was stone cold on our plates. On the plus side the staff were smiley, friendly and helpful although there didn't appear to be any actual management on site. Definitely needs a total overhaul."

Has a lovely lunch with my Daughter. I had a rare roast beef sandwich. The bread light and moist and the beef so so tender. It came with a tomato soup, which tasted home-made. So so good. The staff friendly and helpful too. Wish we lived closer.

Sadly terrible, really poor service and roast was microwaved and not special at all. We asked for medium rare beef and it was well done. Poor waitresses didn’t appear to know what items on menu were available and the service was extremely slow. Such a shame as we were meeting great friends who were en route to London.

We had a lovely room which was upgraded from a Standard to a river view Superior room. I would like to just mention Isabel the receptionist who was very accommodating, cheerful and efficient. All the restaurant staff worked hard and the service was good and the view from the dining room is beautiful. The hotel is within walking distance of the City was a bonus as there is also a nice big car park. A really enjoyable stay which was a two day package with dinner and breakfast and a packed lunch on the second day.

If you want to actually get a nights sleep after paying for a hotel room do not stay here. Rooms have no sound proofing and if a wedding is on the rooms actually vibrate until late at night and no manager on site to help. If you want any compensation the hotel says you should have left and not stayed overnight. This response was made knowing that we had been out for a meal and a drink as we were on our holiday. We were unable to eat at the hotel due to the wedding so had walked into Salisbury. So awful customer service and endorsing drink driving apparently.

Six of us ate in the Rivers Edge Restaurant on Thursday evening 30 November and Friday evening 1 December. On our first night we had meals off the general evening menu and all of us really enjoyed the service and food. Our second night we all ate from the Festive Christmas menu, which we had booked in advance and this was an absolute delight. We all had a variety of starters and five of us had the traditional turkey as main and one the lovely salmon dinner. The whole atmosphere in this restaurant was just brilliant and we all had a terrific night of drinking and eating. One stand out member of the team was the really lovely Maisy

Visited with 6 family members 2 babies for a birthday Sunday lunch. Pros; beautiful setting building, attentive service staff, good food drink options. Cons; no allergen info displayed staff unsure untrained resulting in a member of our party requiring medication due to being served nuts in an unlabelled desert no apology offered by management or chef. Roast dinner have Pre packaged sliced meat possibly microwaved or boiled in bag meaning it’s tough stringy, desserts are brought in. plain A4 printed menu lacking info on flavour allergens as well as aesthetic creativity add a border at least! cheap cafe cutlery, mens baby change toilets grubby in need of refurb, light shades chandeliers dusty...

From the moment we walked into the hotel we got that feeling that it would be good! It surpassed our expectations. The view from our garden room was amazing including the river and the Cathedral spire in the distance through the trees. The room was very comfy and well appointed. The only slight negative was that the bathroom could have done with a little TLC. The staff were excellent, helpful, friendly, efficient and professional especially Marco in the restaurant/bar. The food was very very good and also very plentiful. The dining room also had wonderful views of the river and if you are lucky you May see a kingfisher too. The location suited us well as it was very peaceful but the car coul...

Overall terrible experience in a very dated, damp and creepy hotel. We stayed at the Rose Crown for business and thankfully only 1 night. Most of our party had to change rooms as they were either damp and musty or just a bit creepy and when my colleague asked for an alternative room the guy on reception said ‘do you want Creepy or Cramped?’. I have to say most of the staff were friendly and polite but perhaps a more experienced member of staff should be on reception. Plus the breakfast was fairly decent although the orange juice they served up was more of a strange children’s squash rather than a juice, so the Legacy hotel group is definitely cutting corners everywhere! The only saving grace...

"We stayed here ten years ago and thought it was wonderful and worth every penny. We were so excited to return, but really Disapointed. The grounds are lovely and we were pleased with our room. The children loved the outdoor space and the pool What really let us down was the food and service. There was no luxury here. The family dining choices were poor. The children's meal was bad one had fish gougons and sweet potato fries which were very salty. The other two had pizza, the small was served as half a pizza, the large was a conventional round shape. Both were shop bought bases (cardboard) with grated Cheddar on the top. Something I would not feed them at home let alone expect in a supposedly high end dining. My husband's steak was chewy. My main, whole plaice with creamed potatoes, the potato was served in a ceramic dish and it was cold. It was taken away and then took ten minutes to return by which point I had eaten the fish. The food was incredibly expensive considering how poor the offerings were. The next day we ate a very late lunch in Bath so we would not have to eat at the hotel. The breakfast buffet area had some nice items but was really understocked and allowed to run to empty. The staff functioned but not at a steady rate, we found the service slow and the staff disinterested. Such a contrast to our previous visit. The person in charge we found sullen and felt as if our presence was an inconvenience. When we walked through to the dining areas we would hop out of the staff'so way for fear of being bulldozed. When we left the receptionist was polite but did not ask if we enjoyed our stay. A week later I had an email to complete a survey and nobody got in touch despite the same feedback as given here. Very dispointing. Lovely room and surroundings but poor food and poor attitude from staff. Last year we stayed in a hotel that cost 65% less than Wooley Grange and had a much better experience."

"We had a tremendously good lunch here today-the food was quite delicious, the staff were very friendly and helpful-I’d say it’s probably one of the best lunches I’ve had in quite some time….so to give you a clue we both had the pork-this sounded really lovely and we were not disappointed-pork belly, tenderloin,a faggot and a ham hock croquet with mashed potato and roasted cauliflower with a delicious jus and a slice of pickled apple( which I ate immediately with a piece of pork and when the waiter came to ask how our lunch was I asked if he could possibly get me another piece-which he did For dessert we shared the passion fruit crème brûlée which came with a passion fruit sorbet and some chocolate soil…..the focaccia we had at the start of the meal was superb and the coffee was also excellent -we do enjoy both cooking and eating-one of life’s pleasures and it’s abundantly clear the chef absolutely loves food too-a great display of cooking books from the greats sort of got me thinking it would be a good lunch…….also worth noting the drinks menu-some lovely wines, soft drinks and cocktails both alcoholic and non alcoholic. I finished off with a mocha which was hot chocolatey but not too sweet. Bradford on Avon is most definitely worth a visit and I’d say you would be foolish to miss out on a great experience if you didn’t also pop in to the bunch of grapes for some sustenance while there… Thanks for lunch and as Arnie says “ we’ll be back”….."
