"In the spring of 1979, I held my engagement party at this restaurant-hotel, and it was a fantastic venue back then. Over the years, I have visited this place multiple times. While the service was occasionally subpar, it was never as bad as it is today. We arrived at 2:15 PM on a Sunday afternoon and requested a table for four. The manager asked, "Do you have a reservation?" I replied, "Sorry, I don’t, but the place is empty." To which he responded, "You never know if it will fill up later!" It seemed he was unsure himself, but he clearly didn't want to accommodate us. We ended up sitting in the garden at the front of the hotel and ordered a few drinks. We paid £32 at the bar for one gin and tonic, two tonic waters, and one bottle of local beer. After asking for a menu, we never received one. Our table was also left uncleaned from the previous customers, as shown in the photo of the wine bottle and coffee cup. The staff completely ignored us, and even those at the bar were quite unfriendly. An hour later, after taking more pictures (the place was still empty), we decided to leave and eat at the St George Dragon in Wargrave, where we received excellent service."

I stayed at the hotel and the river view was incredible. The dining experience was enjoyable, and the three-course meal was priced at £50 per person.

just a short note of sincere appreciation for the kind and friendly personal attention we were given yesterday by our waiter with our big party on tee. he would be a credit to any organization and I would certainly come back.

The waiters were helpful but the food was disappointing, the 35 day dry age steak had very little flavour and it was very hit and miss with a gluten free option. The pudding was disappointing, overall it was a disappointing experience and will not return.

My mom and I enjoyed afternoon tea at the riverside restaurant, and we were served by a delightful waitress named Hulya. She was incredibly attentive and friendly, which truly made our experience special and memorable. Thank you so much! Let’s begin by clarifying what this restaurant is not: it’s not a typical spot with a fixed menu. When we arrived, the chef was still considering the menu and sharing his creative ideas. This led to a delightful three-course meal selection, beautifully prepared and presented. If you appreciate a chef dedicated to their craft and understand that this requires using available ingredients and offering a carefully curated selection, you’ll truly enjoy this restaurant and its atmosphere. We certainly did and would be eager to return.

was not in 8 years in this hotel, so I was looking forward to the revisit. we had a reservation for Sunday dinner and were immediately greeted by the reception staff. the restaurant offers a breathtaking view of the river and the food. the beef and yorkshire pudding was delicious and they gave me a lot extra gravy. the service was excellent. as soon as we sit, they took our drink order and delivered fresh bread rolls. all staff were just so friendly and engaged. only what was missing was the sunshine. I hear they have a renow next year. can not wait to go back
